Hotel Paisano is a wonderfully charming historic hotel (built in the 1930's by architect, William Trost) and vintage movie buffs will appreciate that it played host to the stars of the Academy Award winning movie, Giant (memorabilia in lobby).

Hotel Paisano is a Pet friendly property—all pets welcome (although management discourages pet armadillos—"they dig" and encourages cages for exotic pets). Weight restrictions (under 20 lbs) are "flexible"—a $20 (plus tax) pet fee per night. A pet park is nearby and well mannered pets have access to the entire property (except the interior of the restaurant). They are allowed on the outdoor patio dining area and even around the perimeter of the outdoor swimming pool.

The rooms are small (to be expected in a historic hotel) but the integrity charmingly respected and upgraded for modern comfort: WIFI, attractively furnished and immaculately tiled bathroom with rainforest shower and quality bath products. Our room had a private patio with wood burning fireplace—evenings can turn surprisingly cool. The hotel has an excellent restaurant and full bar open for dinner. Local eateries are upscale, healthy and nearby.

Marfa is a tiny, quirky, artist town —a great place to stop off and explore (5 hours from Austin).

Room Tip: All rooms are pet friendly and soundproof.

Considering the options in the area, the Paisano is an Oasis in the desert. It is historcally significant and picturesque as well. The lobby area is fabulous, the room was decent enough. Wife and I spent one night there and thoroughly enjoyed it. Will likely stay there if we visit Marfa again.

I have been staying at the Paisano Hotel for over 10 years, when I travel to the area. Do not expect phones in the room but you do get a great experience. They have WIFI and flatscreens so you can step out fo the last century, but why bother. Beautiful lobby, great staff and the courtyard is the best place in the area in the warmer months. The hotel ooses history and fun. A definate place ot stay in the true west!

Say hi to Paul and Vicky behind the desk.

A really nice place to stay. The rooms were very comfortable and clean. This is an old restored hotel, so don't expect big luxury bathrooms or and elevator. The restaurant is excellent with gourmet food at reasonable prices. The Margaritas are a killer with freshly squeezed lime. Very relaxing to sit and have a drink at this place. Nicely located in the center of town.

We stayed two nights in a suite at the Hotel Paisano and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The suite was very spacious with two queens and a seating area by the television. The bathroom was quite small, but we expected that in a historic hotel. The only other quibble was that the TV remote had problems. These minor issues were completely offset by the terrific ambiance of the hotel. We ate dinner in the restaurant twice, and it was great. I highly recommend the pistachio crusted flat steak! Skip the tres leches though...not one of the better I've had. Overall, a great place to stay in a nice town.

Room Tip: Our suite was 107. Very nice and easy to get to from the lobby.

If you are looking for some kind of luxury accommodation forget it. This hotel provides the basics and does them well enough considering one is the middle of nowhere when visiting Marfa. We were there during a very cold and snowy spell in early January.

I found the staff to be friendly and welcoming despite what I've read elsewhere. The room was OK, not great, but still good enough considering the location. One major issue we had was controlling the heat. We found our room getting intolerably hot and it took quite a bit of fiddling with the thermostat located in the hallway to get it right. At one point we gave up and just opened up the window to get some relief.

I'd say this is a good place to stay if you are primarily interested in checking out all the art in Marfa. I would probably try to find another place to stay should we come back to this part of West Texas, although I would not rule out this place.

Great atmosphere in the patio area of an evening when people are coming back from exploring and preparing to go off and see the marfa lights. Rooms are pretty dated but the hotel has the history of the movies to carry it through. Front desk staff could be more welcoming
