Supposedly its hit or miss to catch the lights at night but we lucked out when we went. 15 minutes into the watch they started coming out like crazy. Some people had crazy binoculars but you dont really need anything to see them. Also they have free stationary binoculars there as well. So no worries!

“Wow I saw the lights”
Reviewed August 30, 2012

While the occasion was a somber one (We were in town to spread some ashes of a love one,) the Marfa lights were real. We saw then just after sunset. Very interesting.

“Surreal.”

There's nothing to say about it, other than it being absolutely phenomenal. You absolutely have to see them.

“Not That Exciting, But OK”
Reviewed August 15, 2012

I don't know how anyone would think these are UFOs, but it's just about worth the drive out of town to see them. We stayed for maybe 10 minutes, so the drive there and back was longer than our visit. But it's free, and there's not a lot happening at night in Marfa, so worth a quick visit.

“It's Just For Fun!”
Reviewed August 14, 2012

this is great experience... went in mid July and you need to wait until about 9:30pm for the sun to really disappear. Anyway, the kids love the idea of looking for something and of course they saw "mystery lights"... I didn't say THE mystery lights, but that's what makes it so fun. the spirit of the people that come out (about 30 people on our night) is light and fun. we "made friends" with several couples old and young and it's fun to chit-chat with folks and where they are from while waiting for the sun to set. bring binoculars for extra fun. the visitor center has outdoor exhibits and is well maintained.
