“Great breakfast and strong espresso”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 22, 2012

Stayed at Gage Hotel (who do not provide breakfast) and went here for breakfast. I am not a big cooked breakfast fan but they had delicious home made granola with yogurt - perfect for me and my partner had a delicious spanish omelette. Two espressos and ready for our trip to Big Bend. Great food in the middle of nowhere!

“Best place for Breakfast Value in Marathon... Bar None.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 27, 2011

Don't want to spend an arm and a leg on breakfast at the Gage? Then this is the place!

My biker friend and I at here this morning and it was packed with locals and tourists. We saw a group of three looking around feverishly for a non-occupied table to sit at and were about to leave when we felt compelled to offer them a spot at our table which they accepted with thanks. Had a great conversation and meal together.

Like someone said in a prior post, nice but nothing special, except..... It's a basic home cooked breakfast place with good breakfast food for 1/2 the price of what the Gage charges for the same thing. To me that makes it a great value. The staff was attentive and friendly. I definitely recommend this place for breakfast and/or coffee.

Happy Trails.

“Had lunch, nothing special”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 7, 2011

I dined here for lunch on my way home from a business trip. I ordered a turkey sandwhich, and it was nothing special. It wasn't bad, but it was just a plain old turkey sandwhich I would make at home. When I'm in this area, I like to be "wowed" because they are so many great and unique restaurants, but this place didn't leave an imprint.

“Great food, quaint restaurant”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 31, 2011

Marathon, Texas is worth a visit for those passing through en route to Big Bend National Park. The local bookstore has an excellent selection, and it's just a short stroll to the Marathon Coffee Shop. The grilled chicken salad is top notch, as is the homemade guacamole with tortilla strips. This cash-only restaurant offers an excellent value with exceptionally friendly service.
