If your looking for peace and quiet with a gorgeous view this is the place. The only down fall even if you consider it a downfall is the train that goes through town at about 6:30am but the Motel does provide earplugs as well. Other than that is very peaceful with a beautiful view..

We stayed at this hotel in cabin number 8. The bed was so comfortable and the bed linens were very nice. Great air conditioning and television had lots of channels. Beautiful courtyard right outside our cabin with green grass, fire pit, fireplace, seating, water fall, plants all surrounded by a unique adobe style surround. Innkeeper was extremely hospitable. They provide ear plugs if the train passing by bothers you; however, I didn't need to us mine. Reasonably priced. Pet friendly but be sure to declare your pet for a charge of $15.00 because if you don't they will charge you $100.00.

On our way to Big Bend National Park we stopped for one night on this campground. Very big pull thru spaces so you do not have to onhitch. Level spaces and in the evening they make (if you ask) a nice fire in a central fireplace. Very romantic. Dark skies at night. We sure come back if weg have to make a stop over.

This place has full hookups and easy pull thru spaces, very wide and as long as you could want. Easy in and out as well. Has lots of space for dog walking and running. Most sites were level. Staff very friendly. Were there on a Wednesday nite (the 24th) and went back by on the 29th with full tanks on the way home and they let us use the waste dump and fill up the fresh water tanks.

We parked way in the back so the trains were not too bad. Great courtyard, laundry, rest rooms, etc. Other reviewers were correct in stating this is a great astronomy location, especially to the West. It will get wind as it sets on a rise above the prairie. Cost with Good Sam's discount was $27 per nite including taxes . What a deal!

Just wanted to drop a Thankyou for your kind review. As I always like to point out, this property is 70 years old, so keeping up as well as making improvements is ongoing, so your appreciation is very much appreciated!
Your point of most interest to me is your comment on astronomy. Turns out, we are actually under a Class 1 Dark Sky. Ironically descriptions of our skies are turning up in other reviews as of late. So, soon I hope to begin making improvements to accommodate astronomers.
No need to be in the middle of nowhere to enjoy that interest!
Again, thankyou for your review and we hope to see you again!

My uncle and I stayed at this hotel for one night on our way to Big Bend. The room was clean and neat. The bed was very comfy and the staff was very friendly. We checked in after hours and we had no problems. In the morning the staff provided several breakfast options for us. I would recommend this hotel to anyone traveling through the Marathon area. On our next trip to Big Bend we plan to stay here and visit the surrounding area.

Room Tip: Our room was near the Windmill and it was a very windy night. There was some noise but not enough to be annoying. The bed was so comfy and warm after 5 mins I feel fast asleep and didn't wake up until the morning.
