“Too Bad, We used to love this place”
Reviewed May 5, 2010

We have stayed many times at this place and used to love it, I have heard other people say that they have had problems and even Gay said she has had people complain about her and her reply was they were drunks just causing problems. Well I used to give her the benifit of the doubt till I saw it first hand. My wife and I were staying there at the last bike rally. Quiet time began at midnight, Gay and her friends had been sitting out on a patio drinking and etc when a man at her table got really angry with her over something and walked off. then about 11pm my neice and sister nad bro-inlaw who live in the area stopped by to say hello. Gay walked over and said they had to leave and if they wanted to drink to go to Luckenbach. None of them were drinking however. I was in the camper when I heard her speaking to them in a very rude manner so I just listened for a moment, she was rambling about some rule that visitors were not allowed after 10pm and rambling about things that had nothing to do with the situation at hand. she was rude and drunk so I chose not to say anything at that moment, thanks to my wife because I am a bit vocal when I smell bs. The next day we were leaving and and my neice came by to pick up something that had fallen out of the car the night before and again she was very rude. Needless to say she proved all the stories I had heard true and we will never go to the Armadillo again. If you make the rules up as you go along then you need to say so, otherwise post them somewhere. I would have never told my family to stop by if I knew they were not welcome, you not only embarrassed me but lost a good customer forever. Sincerely C&C

Gay is very sweet and helpful. We attended the Texas Hat Festival @ Luckenbach and the location was perfect. Planning on going back maybe later this summer and bring some friends along.

A very laid back campground. Nice campfire, with free fire wood for the community fire. Fun to chat with the people around the campfire. Clean restrooms and showers. Just a stone's throw from Luckenbach Town Loop. Thanks Gay and Bubba (the dog) for such a great week. If we ever head out that way again, we'll surely be back!

We planned a last minute trip to Luckenbach, TX, and after calling the Armadillo Farm Campgrounds, we decided to book two cabins. The owner was extremely helpful with directions and explaining the general situation about the town and events over the phone which helped us since we had never been to Luckenbach before. When we arrived late, the owner was so understanding and hilarious. Check-in was quick and painless and she walked us outside to show us around. There are rules about the noise limits after midnight but they are town rules and easy to obey. You can walk from the campgrounds to the Luckenbach Town Loop where the events take place. The owner even hung out with us for awhile after the band and had a beer but was not the crazy drunk caretaker the other blog comment mentioned. She was an amazing hostess and I definitely plan on going back to stay at the Armadillo Farm Campgrounds soon. Thanks to Gay, the owner, for contributing to such an amazing experience and trip!!

Every year Bodie Powell and the Borderline Band plays Luckenbach Dance Hall on the Saturday night during Labor Day weekend. We always stay at the Armadillo Farm. We are within walking distance of Luckenbach so the location is excellent. We hook up our travel trailer on a site that is surrounded by trees and just steps from the campfire. It is a full hook-up on an elevated pad with plenty of room to set up our own guitar pickin circle or for cooking outside with available grills and picknic tables. Recently, some of the band members decided to rent one of the cabins. They are adorable and very comfortable and you can't beat the price to have all the luxuries of home right there in your own rustic cabin. The greatest anemity of the campground is Gay Jenkins. She is always attentive to our needs and I have watched her (in the hottest heat of the day) run around the campsite making sure everyone is comfortable and keeping the grounds in tip top shape. Whenever we call in advance to book our campsite, Gay makes sure that all the band members have a site close together. We always have such a great time whenever we visit. We have been going to the Armadillo Farm for over 6 years now for various events, weddings, gigs, and just vacation. And, Fredericksburg is just a 10 minute drive through hill country where you can shop 'till you drop and eat great food all within walking distance. We love the Armadillo Farm and we have met some wonderful travellers during our stay there.

Manager was pleasant and very concerned about our comfort!
The location is near the famous dance hall and you can even hear the music at night from a distance.
Campfires are allowed, mature trees and plenty of the great outdoors!
Very unique and quaint!

A group of us booked the campground for the weekend. There were some cancellations in our group due to illness so only about ten of us went. We occupied 2 camper spots and 2 cabins. We had no issues ther first night and the manager seemed pleasant. There was one other group of campers there that night not including the live ins on the other side of the park. The second night, we were the only overnighters in the entire campground. When we all came in around 9:30 pm, the manager came out of her office/house drunk and started to rant and rave at us before we ever even got out of our vehicles about one of us parking in the wrong spot. We tried to move the truck, but she just got crazier. She demanded that we turn in our keys and leave first thing in the morning. She also told us to pay for the cancelled reservations or she would call the cops and have us all arrested. We all went to our camp spots and packed up, but she still called the police even though we had not seen or spoken to her for two hours. We ended up being out over $500 for cancelled reservations and the nights we paid for, but were not allowed to stay. She refused to refund our money, but told us she would have our spots rented before we even pulled out. We moved to Top of the Hill Campground in Boerne, Tx. the caretakers were kind and helpful and the amenities were wonderful.
