We are from Austin and love Torchy's. The one in Lubbock is definitely geared for the college crowd because it is really loud. You have to speak loudly just to carry on a conversation with people at your table. I am not asking for it to be the library but something less than concert level would be great. It's also expensive tacos but they are damn good as the tag line goes. We'll be back and not matter how you vote you have to try The Democrat. It's one of the best tacos I have ever had.

Great variety of different tacos - you can mix and match beef, pork, chicken!! Excellent salsa as well. Very friendly staff and they really keep the restaurant clean! Great location across from TTU Stadium. Highly recommended!!

The food at this new Torchy's is what you have learned to love in Austin. The fried avacodo taco is still outstanding. The problem is that the restaurant in Lubbock has the worst acoustics I've experienced. It's all hard surfaces and so loud that you can't hear the person next to you. So if you want to sit by yourself then it is fine I guess. Now that the weather is warmer you can sit outside and avoid some of the noise. It's a little more expensive then a few other places but they have unique taco combinations like the "Dirty Sanchez" with a scrambled egg.

Their tacos are delicious. No doubt about that. And they were packed on a Wednesday early evening. The line was to the door, but it went fast and gave us time to study the menu on the wall; while at the same time reconnoitering for empty table space. We found one but it was quickly seized by a family of 6, who’s 10-year-old laid claim to on a scouting mission. We tried 10 different tacos and their queso and homemade chips, which according to a friend was “out of this world” and the best queso he’s ever had.

First - I don’t know how they got away with naming a taco - “Dirty Sanchez.” Perhaps they thought it would be funny when a grandma-type would say, “I had a dirty sanchez and it was delicious!” If that’s the case, why not name all the tacos for slang euphemisms, that way your kid can order a “Donkey Punch” and your wife can ask if you will join her for a “Snowball.” Hijinks ensue.

Well the tacos were delicious, and the queso was really good. We pretty much almost literally licked the bowl. A fact noted by the guy that cleared our table - “Wow, you really took care of that didn’t you. But I guess you have to at $5 a bowl.” Very true dat.

Judging by the t-shirts for sale and the decor on the wall, this place looks like food truck street food that has gone hipster mainstream. That and because the tacos ran you about 4 to 5 bucks each.

If you want authentic street tacos, you can drive less than a mile down the street to a local Amigo’s grocery store, where in the back deli area, they’ll sell you an almost similar Green Chili Pork taco for just .99 cents. You can even pretend they named that taco, “Blupkin,” if you want to get your hipster kicks.

Our daughter raved about this place so we had to experience it. Thought it would not be busy on a Sunday afternoon, boy were we wrong. We were in a line that was at least 30 people deep. The taco's were worth the wait. We tried the chicken fajita, green chile pork, trailer park & the brushfire. All were equally good. The green chile queso is really tasty, love the homemade chips.
