Worth the $5 admission price to see what belonged to Buddy Holly. My favorite gift shop item was the $4.99 Buddy Holly sunglasses.

The Buddy Holly Museum is a fun way to spend some time in downtown Lubbock.
Highly recommend.

Overall, I was impressed with the Buddy Holly center. Although small, it is incredibly interesting and you could spend a couple of hours there easily. Who would have thought Buddy Holly's 18 month career could produce so much influence on the world of music?

Parking is super easy, and it's right downtown. For me, that made it neat experience when reading the fan postcards and correspondence from Buddy's family (which are featured at this museum) -- you really felt you were right in the middle of where Buddy grew up, experiencing what he did, out in the middle of west Texas.

The only downside to the museum was the video playing in the little viewing room across the hall from the main exhibit hall. It was obviously old videotape, so the picture and sound quality was lacking. Everything else was fantastic, though.

The ticket you buy for the Buddy Holly Center will also get you admission into the Silent Wings Museum, which I recommend as well. It's an great deal if you go to both.

I have been a Buddy Holly fan for years. If you are a true fan, you will love this museum.

* It took me two hours to see all of the exhibits and to read every word on every placard.

* The film that is a continues loop in the theater is outstanding. Don't miss it.

* Seeing the guitar that Buddy played the night of the crash sent chills down my spine.

* They also have the glasses Buddy was wearing the night of the crash.

* The gift shop was a little disappointing. But so what? It is the museum displays that count.

Not too cold, not too hot -- but just right. Tasteful tribute to Holly's life and music with enough detail to appreciate his personality and world, but not too much, and avoids idol-worship. Well-ell-ell worth visiting.
