“Excellent choice”
Reviewed July 24, 2014 via mobile

My son and I had just driven 750 miles the day before and stayed at a horrible motel. We had made the trek from San Antonio to Lubbock and we checked several hotels in this vicinity. We were very happy with our choice. Later in our trip we stayed at 2 other comfort inns, and my son said he wished they were as good as this one. Rooms were clean, beds were comfortable. Free breakfast was one of the better ones we had along our trip.

Convenient location just off the interstate with plenty of parking. Very friendly staff and good breakfast but a little short on tables if you happen to hit it when a large group is there. Rooms could use updating since it is starting to show its age.

We need a night to sleep in and we stayed here for a night. The place is by the freeway. The outside building looks new but the inside is really dated. The room needs some TLC,dirty carpet, holes in the bathroom wall, stains in the carpet and comforter.Pool water was cloudy. The free breakfast buffet was good. Texas shape waffles, coffee, tea, cereal, biscuit, eggs, gravy. The A/C vents needs cleaning as well as the glass doors in the back very dusty. Probably wont stay here again.

Room Tip: second floor with the view of your parked car

Unfortunately, we didn't begin looking for a place to stay in Lubbock until late in the day, when most places already were full. By the time I checked out the next day, I had plenty of memories as to why late bookings should be avoided. The hotel, as a whole, seemed badly in need of attention. And our room was beyond depressing. Tub/shower area with extensive mildew stains that could not have been seriously cleaned in years. No sink stopper. Unrepaired holes in the wall beside the bed that simply had been painted over. I couldn't wait to leave the next morning.

I booked online three days in advance, because of long drive times. Average, nothing great, nothing particularly bad either. Price was reasonable. Clean but worn out. In spite of being located near the freeway, it was quiet. I don't know of better values in the area, because it was my first time in Lubbock.

Room Tip: I don't have any advice.

The lobby was nice but the rooms were shabby and run down. I reserved a room with 2 queen beds and when we arrived, the room had 2 double beds. The bed skirt was ripped. The shower was dirty (mold and mildew) and the maid left hair in the toilet after cleaning Saturday morning. The a/c vent in the bathroom was the filthiest thing I have ever seen. It was gray and fuzzy and looked like something I would see on "Hoarders Buried Alive". I was told the hotel no longer supplies hair conditioner. I guess we were lucky they supplied shampoo and soap. The tissues were so small and thin that it took at least 3 tissues to make one Kleenex. Times are tough but this is just sad. The breakfast was fair at best. The hard boiled egg was so rubbery, it was inedible. The people that worked there were nice. For $130 a night, I expect way more than this. There are way too many choices of other hotels in this price point.

I was planning on staying in Lubbock for several days and booked this hotel. When I got there, the hotel was dark, dingy and dated. More importantly, the internet WiFi access was poor and throughput was slow. Room was clean but definitely showing its age. Access to outlets was also poor, especially by the bed.

Worst was there refund policy. BEWARE if you book through a 3rd party like Travelocity. Once you check-in, you've paid for the entire stay and no refunds will be allowed. We stayed one night and decided to move to something better. However, they would not refund money for the days not stayed and Travelocity backed them up. It was worth it to us to cut our losses and find someplace decent (the Country Inns & Suites next door), but be forewarned that "normal" policies don't apply unless you book direct.

Room Tip: Go to the Country Inns & Suites next door. Better rooms and friendlier service.
