“Nice park, but...”
Reviewed April 11, 2012

As tourists who didn't really know where to go, we couldn't find any directions or signs that told us what there was to do in the park and where. We were also never able to find bathrooms.

“Golf Course”
Reviewed December 31, 2011

I went to Mackenzie Park looking to hike in the sunshine. We found the prarie dogs, protecting their homes but were disappointed that most of the park is really a golf course. Not wanting to walk with gold balls flying by we went elsewhere.

“Great way to spend at a summer evening at the Moonlight Musicals at Mackenzie Park”
Reviewed June 16, 2011

At 248 acres, Mackenzie Park is Lubbock’s largest recreation area and features a wide variety of fun for all ages, including the Meadowbrook Golf Course, or for more variety, the park offers a world-class disc golf course and Joyland Amusement Park.

But we enjoy going to the Wells Fargo Amphitheater and on summer nights, you can see great musicals under the stars. We're especially fond of Buddy--the tribute to Lubbock native son, Buddy Holly.

The night we were there, the fellow playing Buddy had played Buddy at the West End in London. It was a great show.
