Description: Reopened under new owners late in Nov. 2010 . Trip advisor has it listed as a hotel, but currently it is not. Here is our review : Psstt. Here's a tip for gourmands, wine lovers, beer aficionados: The Badu House (under new ownership) has excellent fun, food, wine, beer, that goes well with the mysterious history and fabulous atmosphere! On our first try of The Badu House last night we were impressed with the variety of beers and wines, and the... tasty light menu prepared by a chef in training who has created some great tasting items sure to tempt your palate! The Badu House staff has done an outstanding job creating a new, special experience for Hill Country visitors and locals alike!

Perfect spot in the Hill Country, Llano Texas....
Incredible food, great live blue grass music!!

Trust me- for casual relaxed place, it will WOW YOU!
We had the lobster mac and cheese (could of been a bit creamier) but still good... but the crowning jewel was the amazing hamburger.. not just any hamburger... a gourmet delicacy.... cooked medium, to perfection as I asked... we topped with all the normal veggies and added FRIED PICKLES, and BACON. wow..... amazing.... I think my mouth is watering thinking about it now...

“Worth the drive--Five stars on what REALLY counts!”
Reviewed July 22, 2012

We took the beautiful drive from Austin out to the picturesque Hill Country hamlet of Llano with the Badu House as our destination. The building has been painstakingly renovated and just walking through the door is a pleasure. We had hoped to try the six course tasting menu, but despite the fact that I called earlier in the week to see if we would need a reservation and mentioning that we wanted to try the tasting menu with no objection from the gentleman who answered the phone, we were informed that it was the chef's weekend off and sadly, there was no tasting menu that night. But, let me say, that I will make the drive out again in search of the elusive tasting menu, because the food was wonderful. A high point was avocado with filet mignon in mango salsa. All the portions were generous and the prices were very reasonable for the level of cuisine. The wine list is extensive and includes both the top Texas wines and a wide international selection. The sommelier, a co-owner, is extremely helpful with pairing suggestions. The beer list is also long and well-rounded. Only service complaint would be that the young waitstaff needs more practice pouring water without dribbling across the table. The dessert was not tops, but the light Texas port we had to finish the evening was perfect on a summer evening. Speaking of ending the evening, we headed out to the lovely outdoor patio and enjoyed live bluegrass, a style of music not native to Texas, but that Badu House hosts once a month. You can check out their entertainment schedule on their website. And then...make the drive.

“Great getaway from Austin, world class wine and beer with rooms”
Reviewed May 27, 2012

We have traveled to many countries (see our other reveiws) but this place is one of our favs.

We are fans of this place because of the atmosphere and the care taken by the owners to make everyone feel welcome and appreciated. There is an amazing variety of types of wine and there's even a sommelier available to answer questions and make suggestions. Beer? They have 9 beers or more on tap, and 75-100 in bottles.

A trained Chef and great cook work the kitchen, and we LOVE the Steak Frites!

Llano is about 70 miles from Austin along one of Texas's most scenic drives, Highway 71.

The Badu Wine Bar and Accomodation is in an immaculate, beauiful old historic building. There is a great beer garden as well, with decks, areas inside and out reservable for private parties and events. There is big screen TV in the bar for your sports or other viewing pleasure.

Recently we have been having a great time listening to Thursday Night Texas Music Night with W.C. Jameson and friends. They also have live music on other nights as well. Enjoyed eating the good food, drinking the wine and tap beer.

The staff is always attentive and friendly.

Big news is that recently they have opened their upstairs rooms for overnight stays, which makes it a perfect place to go for a weekend getaway! Staying here one is only blocks stroll across the historic bridge with a view of the beautiful river to the square and shops.

We are including the following because the old website from previous owner is still up and might be confusing to travelers.

“Hint: BADu”
Reviewed April 15, 2012

We went here for a birthday celebration "supper." It was NOT a full meal. The fish and chips were just that...fish and chips...no salad to go with it or anything else. The "chips" were whimpy and the fish was mostly batter. The wait staff was rude and unattentive. One waitress came up to our table AFTER we had been there for about 10 min. and asked if there had been a "reserved" sign on it. There was not, but evidently, it was. We saw the party come in about 10 min. later and they were put out on the patio to wait...they were "put out" and diluted their mad with drinks. Drinking is what this place is geared for...a noisy bar in a crumbly ruin. More sloppily dressed waiters here than good food. Forget it for a meal.
