The Resurgence is in a beautiful setting with stunning views all around and natural New Zealand vegetation. We stayed in the Kiwi Saddle Chalet with the separate bath house tree setting overlooking the valley and mountains. Chalet is designed with local cedar and has beautiful oak floors, fireplace, elegant rustic details, a kitchen and deck with gas grill. The room has a painting of the original Kiwi Saddle Hut, the chalet's namesake. The separate bath house has a large tub and louvered windows that open into the tree setting. Owners, Clare and Peter, make guests feel comfortably at home. Evenings start with a wine hour at 7pm where Peter serves a different New Zealand wine each night. The birds offer the musical entertainment. Then we sat down for a fabulous 3 course dinner prepared artfully and tastefully by Chef Clare who has been French trained. We had great food on our 3 week trip to New Zealand but the best food for 7 nights was Clare's dinners at the Resurgence. Clare arranged some great day trips, boats, wilderness walks, bird watching, wine and art as well as massages. There are lots of areas to walk around Resurgence, including the walk to the resurgence pool. It is located about 20 minutes from Abel Tasman and an hour from Nelson. Relaxing, invigorating, beautiful.

Room Tip: We liked the Chalet where we stayed. Travelers should know that the rooms are not air conditioned and can be quite warm late afternoon with the sun pouring in.

We thought the Resurgence was the most special place we have ever stayed in. With friendly hosts catering for our every need including a non-dairy diet at dinner. We stayed in one of the lodges which we found well equipped, clean and comfortable. It seemed very high spec. for a wooden lodge in the middle of the bush!
We enjoyed the walk through the valley down to the river source but beware of the mosquitoes in the loos down there! The walk is well marked but quite a climb back up!
The position of the Resurgence is quite magical in its own valley away from the rest of the world it seems! No wonder the caste from the Hobbit stayed here!
Thank you!

Room Tip: Any one I should think!

We have traveled to many places and this is one of the most memorable. Peter and Clare are excellent lodge keepers and make everyone feel welcome. The Resurgence is clean and gorgeous with beautiful views and architecture. The cuisine is delicious. You won't regret staying at this special place.

This destination has to be experienced to be be believed, We stayed in one of the lodges and just loved the whole experience. You are totally surrounded by stunning scenery, with access to fabulous walks. We did a wonderful full day boat trip to the stunning Able Tasman national park and saw loads of wildlife including baby penguins and stunning beaches. Our only regret was that we did not spend longer here just exploring the area around the lodge. Whatever else you do walk to the "resurgence" - a magical experience. Our two dinners were superb and we very much enjoyed the company of the other guests. Peter and Clare afforded a honeymooning couple total privacy so I am sure it would suit couples who prefer not to mix.

Room Tip: We stayed in one of the self-contained lodges - the most recently done - and it was totally amazing. Own BBG on stunning balcony, cosy lounge and massive bedroom. Not sure staying in the main house would have been as special.

There are four rooms in the main lodge, three separate chalets and three separate lodge stand-alone suites. The theme is rustic but the accommodations are very modern and well appointed. The Bush Lodges have kitchenettes with great outdoor terraces and a barbecue on the terrace. The landscape is lush and filled with birds and delightful bird song. One of the Bush Lodges has a separate bath house as well as an ensuite bathroom. The location is close to mountain forests as well as Abel Tasman national park, Golden Bay and Nelson. The hosts, Peter and Clare, are terrific and can arrange every sort of activity and tours for you, including hiking, beaches, fishing, art and wineries, horseback riding, boating and kayaking. Serious birders and hikers love this place. Clare has integrated her French cuisine training with the New Zealand fare and the optional dinners are superb. The Resurgence does not have air conditioning; it does have a good swimming pool and ceiling fans.

Room Tip: Ask for the Bush Lodge with the separate bath house.
