“This Hampton property is a gem.”
Reviewed March 23, 2011

Planned on staying downtown but couldn't find anything at a reasonable rate. That's because SXSW was happening. When we checked with the national Hampton office they mentioned the Lakeway location. Couldn't have been happier. The hill country charm was
just right and shops and restaurants are within a couple minutes walk or drive. Thanks to
Mr. Karotkin and staff for a very pleasant stay. We plan on vacationing again soon and
will make it a point of booking this property.

Nice clean Hampton. Friendly Staff. I had a king suite on the 3rd (top) floor overlooking the valley. Great room. I think other views would be of the pool and parking lot. Typical Hampton breakfast. Very enjoyable stay.

Really nice hotel. We paid a few extra bucks for the hot tub in the room. It was worth it and the value was great compared to some of the resort prices. Breakfast was typical Hampton inn.

We rented room at the Hampton Inn in Lakeway for two nights in early August 2010---for a funeral trip.
The hotel was difficult to find because the signage in Lakeway is restricted--we passed it once even with GPS and just missed the sign--the hotel itself is set back off the road--which is good because it is much quieter there--
It is right across from a local nursery and has a Whataburger in front of the hotel itself--so look for the Whataburger.
We arrived about 4 pm and room was ready--third floor--at end of the hall and away from elevator (there is just one)...so it was quiet
it overlooked the pool--no spa/jacuzzi--not that large/deep--some people were in it-- from our 3rd floor room the water looked a little cloudy--like it needed to be shocked cause it had sunscreen/body oil in it...

Room was not that large--but it was big enough--had good size closet with mirrored door--bathroom had only a shower--large but the shower head was fairly high--
a shorter person or child would not be able to reach the head to adjust it...
water was hot...had good pressure...the room/shower was clean but there was nowhere to hang a towel by the sink--WHY???
Not much counter space with two people's toiletries--so having someplace to hang hand towel would have been helpful...
soap pieces were typical--small and thin
AC worked great--2 fan speeds and you could set the temp low--which I love-not enough light--no overhead--just two bedside ones and one on desk...
the undercurtains were heavy enough to block daylight--and we faced front of hotel with setting sun--hot...so we kept curtains closed...dark room...

Breakfast Friday morning was better than I anticipated
had real fresh fruit--very nice--large chunks of pineapple, orange, pear, cantaloupe
small omlets precooked with cheese--( frozen and re-heated)
turkey link sausage--didn't try
waffles to make yourself--didn't try
cereal/oatmeal--husband had cereal--4 different selections
bagles/bread/english muffin/and real muffins--those were running low when we came in--like there was only 1 English muffin and 1 bagle--but they replinished fairly quickly
bowl of hard=boiled eggs
orange/apple juice
coffee

thought the OJ was not that good--tasted canned/tinny to me
coffee was good
omlet was ok--
only one waffle iron so if more people had wanted them it would have been slow but there were few people eating when we were--think most people were done earlier to check out
hotel info says they give you a breakfast to go bag if you can't stay to eat...

The main complaint was that the bed was totally bad--lumpy and hard--we both woke up during the night changing positions and had sore backs next day--sometimes a bad mattress takes two nights to really make itself felt but this one did it in one-
it seemed like it was a fairly inexpensive mattress that someone had jumped on and just dented...
I expected better from a newer hotel

PLUS--this hotel is not that big and has fairly small parking lot--(land is at a premium in this part of Austin)
there was a pickup truck pulling trailer with some glass/iron custom made doors on it--
the PU parked horizontally across about 8 parking spts--so he did not park trailer vertically in spot and unhook from truck--was trying to prevent anyone from jacking his trailer/load I assume--
but it made it difficult for people to find spots for themselves...

initially on arrival we did not have a problem because that was late afternoon but we went outand were gone for about 4 hours -- came back about 10pm and there was only 1 or 2 parking slots left that we found--
I would have been POed if I had come in and not been able to find a spot to park because of that truck...
anyway--we finished with the Friday service earlier than anticipated so we just checked out and left around 330--it was worth making a 4 hr trip back home on I-35 in Friday afternoon/evening traffic to sleep in our own bed...

so if you are in need of someplace to stay on the west side around Lakeway that is one of few options--it is clean--staff was ok---it is a pretty location/bldg
just hope you get better mattress

Easy access and great location to all sites in the area. Shares a parking lot with Wataburger for the late night munchies. About 5-10 minutes from the Galleria with numerous eating and shopping spots around. Great staff. My remote batteries were dead and the front desk guy walked to the third floor and hand delivered the replacements within moments. Most places would have you walk down to get it. Good breakfast and plenty of parking

This hotel is lovely, clean, new and tucked back away from the highway. The location is great. What is not great is the air-conditioner that blows you away - right in your face while you are in bed. The AC is not adjustable. We found the mattresses very hard and uncomfortable. We wanted a suite, but all they have in this hotel are King bed suites and we needed two beds. There was no place for two people to sit - only one desk chair. The desk clerks are very accommodating and helpful. We will not stay there again simply because were uncomfortble.
