Must see this if you're ever in Houston. The $4 a ticket to ride the elevator up almost 500 ft is worth it. The history of the battleground is very intriguing also, but go for the views from atop the monument. A MUST SEE!!!

This was a great place to visit if you like military stuff and history. My son and I spent 4 hours walking around the battleship reading all the details. It did get hot but they have a gift shop where you can purchase cool drinks and chips for a dollar. We had thought we could get to an outside observation area up on the stoe tower. Regardless was very cool.

There is an amazing amount of history in this small Museum. Well worth the stop. The Monument itself is a beauty for the eyes, with the lower portion inscribed all the way around. Plenty of parking, grass, shade, make a picnic of it. A ride in the elevator to the top of the five story Monument, the Museum and the Theater viewing will run about $12. There is also a gift shop available.

Everyone who calls themselves a Texan should visit the battleground and monument at least once in their life. It should be a must for all school children. This is our history. I remember going as a child and being fascinated. As an adult, I go with a fuller understanding of the sacrifices made by so many to gain our independence from Mexico. The Alamo is part of the story but this is about the victory. It is such a peaceful site today. Be sure and go to the top of the monument and enjoy the view.
