“Great View”
Reviewed April 10, 2013

This is a fun place to visit. They have let the property grow back to the way it was when the battle was fought. Make sure and take the elevator to the top to look out. When I was a kid, we got to hang out the windows - now they have thick secutity glass in them. but the view is still great. And make sure and go on the battleship Texas and walk around.

“Great history inside, great view from the top”
Reviewed March 28, 2013

Really enjoyed learning about the history of this site and the players that literally shaped the future of the United States. If you're a history buff, you'll not be disappointed. It is very well laid out with a short bio of all the key players in the battle for Texas. We didn't pay to see the special exhibit or film, but did spend the $4.00 to go to the observation deck near the top of the monument. (about 480' high) Great view of the Port of Houston and surrounding area.

“Impressive”
Reviewed March 23, 2013

Stopped by briefly on a coach tour before returning to England and in the brief time we had at the site I was very impressed. The monument is spectacular and the museum contains many artefacts and is very educational for all ages. I would like to have visited the battleship nearby but could only view from the foot of the monument, it looked very sinister nestling in the reeds! This brief visit came as a bit of a surprise stop and it would certainly be worth spending a bit of time here to understand the full historical significance of the area.

“Historically significant”
Reviewed March 19, 2013

There is a great display of items in the base of the monument and we even did a hike that retraced the battle. They do re-enactments on SanJacinto day as well and those are also very interesting. We also went up in the elevator, there is a good view, just a bit crowded.

First time visit with friend from Guatemala. The museum is excellent, educational and the view from the top spectacular. The volunteers working there are priceless. Well worth the small fee they charge.
