“Inn Above Onion Creek”

My wife and I went here for weekend trip to the Hill Country in October 2013. It is a very nice property and we enjoyed ourselves very much. We stayed in the Hays room which was basically as large as a suite. The bed was most comfortable and the bathroom was huge with a separate Jacuzzi tub and a large shower with a window that looked out over the hills on the property. We had a large sitting area with a fireplace you could operate by remote control. The fridge was stocked with complimentary drinks and snacks. Meals are included and they were very good also. It is BYOB but no problem as there is a beautiful winery about three miles down the road (Duchman). If you haven't been to the a LBJ ranch about 30 minutes away go, it is a wonderful tour in a beautiful location. All I all a nice weekend getaway.

From the minute you enter the property of Inn Above Onion Creek you know it is going to be an awesome experience. This past Veterans Day (11/11/2013) my wife and I along with 10+ other veterans and their wives were made to feel extremely "Honored" by the Inn Above Onion Creek and the entire staff. The Inn Above Onion Creek furnished this entire stay which included a 3 course dinner and a full breakfast the next morning along with hand squeezed orange juice, fresh fruit and pastries made by the chef.
After dinner the first night many retired to the fantastic gas fired fire pit for some great conversation and the forging of great and hopefully long friendships. No stoking, no placing of logs to keep the fire going a And no smoke to try and stay away from but plenty of warmth for a cool night.
The Inn Above Onion Creek is a winner for that special weekend, a romantic getaway or a surprise trip that your significant other would feel as honored as all of us felt. Take a look at their web site for more information and the &1,000,000.00+ improvements that have or are in the works to make this a Bed and Breakfast you will remember for a very long time.

Room Tip: If you are wanting that get away from it all then ask for Maurice's Cabin! It is located either...

The Inn above onion Creek. I can't say enough good things about this Bread and Breakfast. The staff are just absolutely fantastic and goes completely out of their way to make you feel comfortable. I have spent 30 years in the military and have traveled all over the world I have not seen rooms as nice as the rooms are in this Bed-and-Breakfast. It looks like you're in the middle of no where it is so quiet you can hear the crickets at night. Their full course dinner was absolutely terrific. I would spend hundred dollars at a restaurant for a dinner like that. They have a full-service breakfast also absolutely fantastic. On a scale of 1 to 10 I would give the and above I need Creek a 15.

The Inn has an amazing setting. We (my husband & I) initially chose our room for the porches - we had both sunrise and sunset views. The accommodations made all things a true 'down time'. By the flip of a switch we had our fireplaces roaring. With a very short walk, we were in the dining room. Food was very good. The dining room was a festive and loud fun spot. (It is a BYOB - so don't forget your wine or ___.) The area has some of the most fun entertainment: great meandering/shopping, great outdoor activities (we zip-lined), museums, music...in the middle of 'doing' or in the best place for "doing nothing". It is ALL your choice.
BUT speaking of choice: Beware or be prepared...should you want information about the area and your go to the office, well sadly the Inn Keeper was too busy on her computer screen to help. Thank goodness for the assistance. She made us feel like legitimate paying guests! With our stays in other B&B's or Boutique Hotels, our experiences have been with helpful, engaged, pleasant and "all about the guest" attitude Inn Keepers. Our experience was disappointing enough we will question another stay. Sound like babies? Maybe so. But when there are equal B&B's in the area, there most certainly be Inn's with Keepers that make you feel more valuable than a computer screen. - Just sayin' -
Now the area: Wimberly , Kyle & Driftwood, Texas was a blast with great store owners. All the places we visited made the tourist welcomed and for that, we WILL be back!
Another warning: Should you want to watch one of their movies curled up in front of the fire...rethink that. Both TV's are only 19'!

I came here with my mom several years ago during October. Loved all the butterflies, beautiful sunsets and sunrises. It was a much needed place during a difficult time in my life. I brought my husband last year to share this special place. Loved all the spring flowers and the wonderful walking trail. The cat followed us the whole trail which I have never seen a cat do. The food and comfortable atmosphere was outstanding as usual. Loved being close to Austin, Wimberley, shopping and lots of winery's to choose from. I will come back for sure.

We arrive to a friendly greeting and a quick and simple check-in. We grab four homemade cookies, go directly to our room, kick off our shoes, 'turn on' the fireplace (we are "full-masonry, wood-burning" folks but this no-fuss, gas flame with ceramic logs and cinders is really better for vacationers in the Texas Hill Country where no-burn conditions are occasionally in force) and commence to relaxing. The room is charming with numerous old-world touches while being functional, up-to-date, quiet and super clean! We throw our bottle of chardonnay into the mini fridge, hop on the bed to watch the news via satellite converter box and HDTV and catch a nice nap before dinner.

On previous visits, we've enjoyed the family-styled dinners down in the dining room but this time we ask to have dinner brought up to our room - which our hosts are happy to accommodate. After a delicious, private, gourmet three-course meal and a few glasses of chilled wine, we're ready to sleep again:-)

Breakfast the next morning was also delicious and graciously served to us by the chef himself! All in all, one of the best ways for us to recharge that money can buy.

When you plan a weekend away, a group get together, or an adult family get together, please know that the Inn Above Onion Creek, goes out of their way to make your stay as peaceful and restorative as possible. They offer guest rooms, suites, and cottages. They provide outstanding breakfast and gourmet dinner, as well as complementary drinks, coffee, tea, water, cookies and fruit in the kitchen between meals. It's homey when it needs to be, and contemporary. The decor is impressive, the view and tame and wild life gives you something to look at, as well as the garden and grounds have endless types of flowers and plants to make someone who's not even interested find appreciation. The Staff is outstanding, and you are on a first name basis from your check in. however no one every bothers you . You are free to roam about, relax in your room, swim, or take advantage of the spa services. We chose to dine in our room in the evenings, butt have breakfast in the dining room in the morning. We also got excellent massages, and a lovely thunderstorm lite up the country side during the the overnight.. we great seats... a huge feather bed on the third floor. This place is located west of Kyle, Texas, and near Wimberly in the Texas Hill Country. I think the Fall is a great time to go, but Spring is probably is awesome, too Try this wonderful "first class" Inn!!

Room Tip: We chose the Nance Suite, it's on the third floor, and it's roomy for 2 and truly built for...
