“Relaxing in the Hill Country of Texas”
Reviewed March 22, 2013

From the moment we drove through the ranch gates, we knew we were in for a treat. The winding road led us to a beautiful view of the country side with the roof of the inn peeking through the trees. The grounds are lovely with multiple sitting areas to enjoy them; some for a many people to gather and some just for two. The dining room is conveniently located and is situated so that you can have your meal with the other guests or just yourselves. The food was fabulous, the rooms clean and the beds very comfortable. They have their own gardens where they harvest the vegetables for dinner from and the flowers for the rooms and tables. The staff was very courteous and helpful. They even have an on site spa!

Room Tip: We asked for a tour of the rooms; most were full but the other three we saw were lovely. I don't...

We stayed here for an anniversary weekend, and it was exceptional! Everything was clean and the food alone was worth the price of the stay. It was outstanding! We enjoyed visiting with the other people staying at the Inn over dinner also. We drove about 8 hours for this weekend, wish we were closer we would go back more often. Loved it!

As an innkeeper myself, I always look for quality no matter where I stay. The Inn Above Onion Creek does an exceptional job. The check in, the very clean and comfortable room, the delicious pool (I was there in the summer), the staff, the surrounding countryside....everything was top notch. I enjoyed a long walk down their drive early in the morning prior to breakfast and was treated to beautiful vistas and wildlife. This is a wonderful place to kick back for several days and just be! Hope to stay again some time!

The Inn is perfect if you want a quiet break away from noise and traffic. Dinner service is especially good, and very helpful since the location is a few miles from the nearest restauraunt. My favorite activities are floating in the pool when the weather is hot, going for walks around the property when the weather is cool, and sitting on the great porch just about anytime. Rooms are high quality and built with modern amenities with rustic touches. It is also a great location for small to medium size events.

Room Tip: All of the rooms are good; note their location first, second, or third floor if stairs are a concern...

We just resturned from a 3 night stay pre-baby, and had the best experience! The staff is so nice and friendly, meals (breakfast and dinner) were OUTSTANDING and the room was beautiful and comfortable. The dining room is always open so you have access to drinks and cookies and popcorn. Just bring snacks with you, as dinner is served at 6 and we were hungry again around 930! Nice walking trails and you are very close to Wimberley and many wineries. FYI: I don't think kiddos are welcome unless renting the entire place, but call to be sure.

Room Tip: The Michaelis room has a comfy sitting area with fireplace, private balcony, large jetted tub and la...

It was a wonderful stay, very spacious room with huge bath room, huge shower and very large claw footed bath. Wonderful views of the Texas landscape. Food is great!! Be careful you are stair ready, our room was at the top of 3 stair runs. A bit outside of the city of Kyle and thanks for that. The water is good and they've thought of almost everything you could need. Call them and talk to Don, he's the go to guy.

Room Tip: If you can handle stairs, get the Schlemer Suite. Otherwise, be certain to request ground floor or s...

My husband and I are currently enjoying our 7th trip here in as many years. It is far and away our favorite destination in the Texas hill country. The location is gorgeous--the inn is a mile off the main road, so it is very quiet and peaceful. The views from every room are lovely. We especially appreciate that they serve dinner so we don't have to drive anywhere else after a fantastic meal; and we have always enjoyed the company of the other very interesting guests. Breakfast is also wonderful. The staff are welcoming and friendly. Rooms are very clean, spacious, comfortable and decorated in a simple/rustic/ lovely way. We are already looking forward to next year's trip!

Room Tip: We have stayed in virtually every room, plus the cottage and love them all equally.
