“Top Notch Customer Service - Clean and Comfortable Property”
Reviewed January 21, 2014

We purchased a Groupon for the Inn of the Hills. Prior to our arrival, we called to see if we could possibly upgrade to one of their renovated rooms. They were nice enough to upgrade us at no additional charge. (Be mindful that this was in January, so it may have been due to the lack of occupancy at the time...but much appreciated nonetheless).

When we arrived, we were exhausted as we had driven in from Fort Worth, TX. They quickly got us our room key, and directed us to some local restaurants that were serving later in the evening but had delicious food as well (We ended up at Mamacitas - I have a review under my profile if you care to see it).

Our room was incredibly clean, comfortable, and cozy. The stone wall behind the bed adds just the right amount of romance/Texas charm. Our room was on the first floor right outside of the courtyard/pool area. We had someone in the neighboring room, but we never actually heard them, which is great!

The next morning, the weather was prefect and we were able to enjoy a cup of coffee on our patio overlooking the courtyard. We did not get to enjoy the free breakfast, however, as we were never up in time to make it. We did, however, make it to the Sunday brunch which i definitely recommend. It had a wide array of meat and side dish selections, the free mimosa was a lovely touch, and the dessert selection looked splendid (however, I was too full to try any!)

We also made it over to the Inn Pub and heard a live band and danced. It was perfect because we didnt have to worry about driving anywhere, and the drink prices were reasonable for a hotel/inn bar.

During our stay, we wanted to visit the Kerrville Winery (which was great - I have a review on my profile for that as well) but we did not want to drive there so that we could enjoy the wine tasting. We asked the hotel front desk if there was a taxi service, and low and behold there was! They gave us a business card for Kerr Kab, called, and were promptly picked up and brought to the winery. Not only was the cab service prompt, but the woman who runs the company picked us up, and was friendly, personable, and gave us a reasonable round trip rate to the winery. Definitely recommended!

The hotel is also within walking distance to the 1011 Bistro (I have a review on my profile for that as well) so if you are looking for something a bit more fancy and romantic, definitely check that out.

Overall, we got a great rate, for exceptional service, clean room, and a lovely getaway weekend.

Room Tip: We had room 116, which was fine during January, however, during the summer it may be a problem. Its...

Very quaint, family-friendly and charming hill-country inn. Clean and comfortable, I highly recommend it. A nice break from the typical reasonably-priced chain hotels. All of the comforts of home, with warm Texas hospitality.

We were there just to have a quiet couple of days after the Christmas craziness. The rooms were large, quiet, clean and very comfortable. The full breakfast was an awesome addition. Our room was downstairs near the conference center and pool. Beautiful. We will be back hopefully when we can enjoy the pool and outside area.

My wife and I stayed there for five nights this week, and it was great. Our room across from the conference center did not have a desk, but we were down there only because we booked late. Make sure you ask for refurbished rooms. New Year's Eve buffet -- brisket, sirloin, ham, etc. -- was almost better than the T'giving buffet, but nothing will ever equal that.

Room Tip: Ask for refurbished rooms.

This Kerrville institution was more conveniently located than the newer hotels near the interstate, but its recently renovated rooms need another upgrade. The room smelled musty throughout our stay (despite a promise from the front desk staff to "spray for it"), and the sheets were thin. However, we had a lovely view of the courtyard and pool, and we enjoyed the complementary continental breakfast every morning. The room had plenty of outlets, and the hotel offered free wifi.
The rooms have outside doors, and the rooms on the first floor have a second door out to the courtyard.

Room Tip: Choose a room that has been renovated.

This was our fourth stay at Inn of the Hills, I suggest you get a room near the pool and downstairs as there is no elevator. Many rooms have been updated, and the room we had was a king bed with sitting area and mini fridge. The rooms come with complimentary continental breakfast, which can be upgraded to full breakfast for $4.00 a person. We enjoy the continental buffet as it includes a good choice of fruits, breads, grits, oatmeal or waffle.
We took the family to dinner Friday night at a different restaurant and in hind sight we would have been better served to eat the Friday Sea Food Buffet at the restaurant in the Inn.

Room Tip: Book a room close to the pool and restaurant and downstairs

Excellent value, two nites, food and wait staff very good and prime rib buffet great. Rooms redone, spacious and clean. Too cold for pool (Dec) but imagine it is very nice in warm eather.Attached pub had very good western band with plenty of boot scootin' dance floor.Check-in and out easy. Will be back as it is central to many interesting areas of the hill country.
