“Wow! Our new home in Jefferson!”
Reviewed October 17, 2011

After a less-than-stellar experience at a hotel in Jefferson we had to quickly find another place to stay for our annual girl's weekend, and they worked with us beautifully to meet our needs at the last minute! The owners, Angie and Tim, are amazing and run one of the best B&B's we've ever stayed at. The rooms were excellent, comfortable and beautiful; and Angie and Tim's hospitality was the icing on the cake. We spent a lot of time on the swings in the back yard just relaxing and visiting. Angie's breakfast was sooooo good, and she gave us the recipe for the homemade granola she used in the Greek yogurt fruit cups she served as a starter. Incredible!

The Captain's Castle is within walking distance to the shopping and nightlife in Jefferson, so we never had to drive. Bottom line: we'll stay here every time we come to Jefferson and recommend it to anyone looking for a place to stay while they're in Jefferson!

Room Tip: Get on their website, or call the owners - lots to choose from!

Jefferson, Tx is a charming town and depending on when you go can have lots to do, we went during the week for just some quite time. The Captain's Castle was perfect! It has new owners, since the end of last year, and they are wonderful. Do remember this is an 1800's home and not a new hotel. Each room has its own bathroom with shower/bath and is nice and roomy. The breakfast was served at 9am and was delicious. Angie and Bill are so kind and accommodating. At the Captain's Castle we enjoyed sitting on the front porch or in the back on the swings and during the day visiting the shops in the square and even a local play. The Captain's Castle is in the perfect location to all the local activities and Bill and Angie are very helpful. Thank you two so much, it was just what we needed!~~

From the moment we stepped into this beautiful bed & breakfast, we felt like we were visiting family! The new owners, Bill & Angie, paid attention to every detail, including spa towels & pillows, flowers & chocolates in our spacious room, plenty of outdoor seating and suttle lighting to enjoy the wonderful beauty outside, and breakfast to die for! The Captain's Castle is close to great dining, shopping and events happening! They are also close to a wonderful winery - Enoch's Stomp Winery. We enjoyed our "visit" so much and encourage everyone to stay with Bill and Angie. They are so personable and the "Castle" is beautiful! We can't wait to book our next visit!

I happened to stay at this B&B due to having another B&B lose my reservation, and this Inn taking me in at last moment notice.
The home is lovely, and the new owners are equally so.
They are very interested in making their guests feel comfortable and at home.
My only wish would be that I think it would be great if there were hot water kettles in each room with tea and coffee to make, and maybe some cookies or chocolates for a late night snack.

Barbara Hooker and her husband have the greatest little treasure in Jefferson! Located very close to all the attractions, the room was cozy and comfortable! The breakfasts were out of this world! Barbara and her staff were so pleasant and helpfull and had a great sense of humor! I would stay here again anytime!

My husband and I visited Jefferson with my cousin and her husband last week end. We were very pleased with our experience at the Captain's Castle. We thought the breakfast was excellent both days. We stayed in Teri's room and it was very clean, comfortable, and roomy. On Sunday morning Mrs. Hooker gave a tour of the house and she is very informative and entertaining. She and her husband have a wonderful collection of antiques that they have inherited from both their families. We learned that the room my cousin stayed in had a desk that had belonged to Thomas Jefferson. My only thought is that people would enjoy staying more if they knew all the historical significance before the day to check out.

We came with 5 girls and we took three rooms. I had stayed in Jefferson in a couple of other bed and breakfast and this was not the best. The bed was very hard and the meals were just okay, not bad but not what you would expect. Mr & Mrs Hooker were extremely nice and the tour was fun. Some people don't realize that this is there home and they are sharing it so for that we should not expect to go upstairs. The place has been owned by them for 15 years and is getting tired. I will select another place next time we go.
