Owner description: A one-hour tour of one of Jefferson's most historic - and haunted - locations. The Grove is an 1861 home that uniquely mirrors the history of the riverport city... and the ghost stories there go back over 100 years. The history of the home is fascinating; it is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and is a Recorded Texas Historic Landmark. Along with the history, though, you'll hear ghost stories from the owners and find out just what it's like to live in a haunted home. Come visit The Grove for a peek into Jefferson's past... and a few residents who may still be hanging around!

If your wanting to take a vacation and don't want to leave Texas, Jefferson Texas is the best place we have found so far. When we visited the Grove we did not encounter any ghosts, but we really loved listening to Mitchel tell the history of the Grove. Any time we are in Jefferson Texas, We will definitely be visiting the Grove again.

Mitch, his wife, and The Grove are not to be missed. You won't regret it! They even let me have pecans and a china pottery shard out of their yard ads a souvenir. This is a fabulous house w/fabulous history and very special owners.

The owner of the home and the tour guide is such a wonderful storyteller, which I think comes from his career as a writer, but also something deeply embedded in the culture of East Texas. Intricate historical details about all the previous owners, as well as information about the city and area itself, was just as fascinating as the ghost stories sprinkled in throughout. Not your average tourist attraction, which makes this one of the best things I've ever committed to visiting on a day trip from Dallas, and with minimal cost! An excellent choice for anyone who loves history, and also something the whole family can enjoy.
