“Shuttle service ROCKS!”
Reviewed August 9, 2014 via mobile

We has booked a room at Wingate through Hotels.com but did not know that shuttle service from DFW stopped at 8pm on weekends. A cab was going to cost $35. So I called Hyatt Place--2 doors down--and asked if they could pick us up and bring us to Wingate. Tiffany on the phone was super helpful and even though she said they normally don't do this they would help us out. Tammy, the driver, was very accommodating! Shout out to Hyatt Place for going above and beyond for a future customer! We will book a room there next time! Thanks!!!

Great place to stay! Rooms are really nice... Pool was under construction though:( It has a bar and café. Breakfast was pretty good with a lot of choices: bagels, cereal, yogurt, fruit, eggs, sausage, French toast, coffee, milk, and juices.

Thank you for your review! We are nearing the end of our renovation and look forward to having all of our construction projects complete. I am glad you enjoyed our food service. Our 24/7 Gallery Menu offers some nice options for our travelers who prefer to dine in and our breakfast (in my opinion) is second to none for being complimentary. We look forward to your next visit with us.

Rooms are very large. There is a couch I'm the corner separate from the comfortable beds. The breakfast area itself is small but provided good selections. There are plenty of tables in the lobby. There is even a small bar. Great staff! It's not too close to restaurants though except for the BBQ one across the parking lot.

Stayed in May 2014 and was thoroughly impressed:

- Very courteous staff, quick check-in
- Room was neat, clean and comfortable
- Hotel doesn't have a full fledged restaurant but the staff will turn around a quick meal
- Was under renovation and they turn off the water during the day. I missed reading the board that was put up at the front desk. And as a result couldnt take shower before heading for work. The staff promptly arranged a shuttle to the Holiday Inn which is about 2 miles, managed an empty room so I could have my shower, and was promptly dropped back. Felt like I was at home
- Pretty close to restaurants (about 2 miles, you could walk up), shopping - so you do have a choice if you wish to eat. Hotel also arranges to drop you if you request for a shuttle to the shopping area, which I found very useful
- Has shuttle service to and fro (the airport)
- The front desk always greets every time you step in or step out. Reflects the hospitality and service approach. Always ready for a chat if you are having your meal alone.
- Staff also attends to requests quickly (if the TV remote doesnt work, they replace it)
- Organized good and sumptuous breakfast
- Definitely recommend stay - driven entirely by the courteous staff.

Enjoyed our 2 nights with the hotel. They tried to make everyones stay as peaceful as possible. The hotel was having a major remodel. It was a little odd with the carpets and flooring torn up. The room was nice and we made the best of it. I like the location and wouldn't hesitate to book this one again. Restaurants within walking distance. I wish Hyatt Place would add a guest laundry.

Room Tip: Our first room was near the elevator. We moved because an AC problem, but we were happy because the...

Thank you for your review! It is a challenge making sure everyone has an enjoyable and peaceful stay during renovation. Our lobby is almost complete, and we only have the exterior left. Unfortunately we do not have the space for a guest laundry on site, however we do a have a couple of options for our guests. We offer Valet Dry Cleaning (FEE) or the use of our sister properties guest laundry facility. Thank you for staying with us here at the Hyatt Place Las Colinas. We appreciate your business.

We were traveling on the highway into Dallas when my father got sick to his stomach, and needed somewhere to clean up and lie down for a bit before we continued on. We found ourselves at the Hyatt Place Dallas/Las Colinas. My father's clothes were covered in vomit. The associates at the front desk were patient and kind and found us room where my father could shower and change...and rest a bit until his stomach was better for riding in a car. I noticed that there was a renovation going on, but the staff remained calm and did their best to make the most for everyone. Those people just work there and it was not their idea to remodel in the middle if the summer. Yet, they are the ones that get all the complaints and issues, and we added more to their day. We are so impressed with their kindness and quality of service, that we will remember to stay there when we return to Dallas. Thank you to the entire staff for making my Dad feel good despite our predicament. Because of all of you we were able to make our flight that day, so that we could return home. Dad is still a bit weak, but feeling much better.

One small reminder...don't beat up the hotel staff. They just have to work there and take care of a lot different needs, some that they were not expecting that particular day, but handled better than most hotels that I have stayed at. They are people just like you and me, with minimal resources.

Room Tip: All rooms have been remodeled!

First up - this review is for Hyatt Place and NOT Hyatt House, which a few people have mistook. Hyatt House is more conveniently located near some restaurants.

CONS: This place is under renovation and there's NO WHERE IN THEIR WEBSITE stating this or when it will be completed (there's a board in the lobby at check in). Dust in the half finished lobby. The gym just reopened. The pool will be closed from July 19. One lift out of order. We only came here because all other hotels were fully booked and were previously staying at the Hilton Garden Inn (see other review). Not sure if there's a coin operated laundry (because I understand that some guests took their laundry to sister property Holiday Inn to wash). I took the shuttle to the Holiday Inn to use their gym! DO NOT RELY ON THE FREE SHUTTLE. They never came to pick me up on the agreed time THREE times despite front desk person writing the timings in a log!!! I had to ring them before the shuttle came. On another two occassions, there wasn't anyone to take my husband to work despite pre-arranging the timings the night before (the front desk lady was kind enough to drive him to work in her own car). Nothing much around the hotel - only one pharmacy, three restaurants. A 3-minute drive to the Ranch, Keg etc across the Highway. Breakfast area is too small - during peak hours, there's almost no place to sit and eat. No room service.

PROS: Rooms are large (about the size of suite in Hilton Garden Inn) and new. Lovely shower (get your body lotion downstairs). Staff who'd go out of their way to make your stay more pleasant - Cindy, Tammy, Tiffany - despite the chaotic mess in the lobby. Breakfast selection, although limited, is quite tasty. You can order food at the bar 24/7 and eat there or take it to your room. Shuttle goes to the airport, and operates during weekends (7am-10pm) - after 10 pm, you can ask the hotel to call Holiday Inn's shuttle service (which is 24 hours and more reliable) to pick you up.

ROOM FOR IMPROVEMENT:
- Should state clearly on website and at booking that hotel is UNDER RENOVATION to be fair to your customers. No one likes to stay in a dusty place, where the gym is closed one day and the pool the next.
- Fix the shuttle service or scrap it. If management has no notion of "on time" service, then there's no point in having a log, writing down timings or offering a free shuttle service.
- Like the Hilton Garden Inn, there should be a more comprehensive pantry/convenience store at the lobby area where people can purchase things other than cupcakes and cookies - especially since there's nothing by way of supermarket, grocer etc nearby.
- coin operated laundry would be good.

Room Tip: Pick a room that's far from the lift. The walls are not that thin but you can still hear people...

Thank you for your review! I understand and apologize for the concerns you expressed regarding our renovation. I know it could be rather troublesome with contractors working around you as you are trying to either relax or work. If you would like to contact me regarding our shuttle service, I would be more than willing to discuss what had happened so that I may utilize your experience as a training opportunity (please call the hotel directly). Our team takes great pride in ensuring that each guest stay is the absolute best that we can provide. It is apparent that you were unhappy with our overall service and I appreciate your honest feedback and will discuss your concerns at our next team meeting. I sincerely apologize that your stay was less than exceptional. Thank you again.
