This place looks like a world class center. The escalators and elevators give a regal ride, and the rooms are fit for a king.

Carpenter Hall is one of 2 theaters in this Arts Center. In Carpenter Hall, the "box seats" in the left and right balconies have blocked views. The architect pooly designed these balconies -- the patrons in at least the back 4-6 seats in the balconies on each side of the theater can see only about 1/3 of the stage. The seats in the side balconies should absolutely never be sold! The musical performance we attended had electronic problems with the clarity of the actors' dialogue and songs. The actors' words were not easily audible much of the time. The acoustics of the theater may be acceptable (we could not make that determination) but the electronic amplification was garbled.

Was there during Savor Dallas - the building is gorgeous as well as the outdoor lit furniture. Very contemporary!

This is a gem of a facility. has a large accoustically-sensitive auditorium with comfy seats on the north side and an intimate theater on the south side. Connection between the two theaters is a large public space often used as a gallery. Not only are the venues comfortable and perfect-sized, ample FREE surface parking just outside the door and the exhibits in the exhibition hall are often open and make for a delightful intermission. Can't say enough about the caliber of functions we've attended @ Irving Arts Center through the years.... a long drive for us but well worth it, given the cleanliness of the facility, the varied fare, and the free nearby parking.

The Irving Arts Center offers a variety of rotating exhibits and kids workshops. Nice little gift shop is a bit pricey. Free parking on three sides. Local artists show here too.
