I live in the Dallas area, and I wanted to take one of my friends that came into town to one of the hip, modern and New York decor hotels. This hotel was decorated very modern, activities for travelers on the property site. The staff is excellent at assisting in directions, local restaurants, and fun and exciting outings for adults. The pool was amazing, the price range for the hotel is amazing based on the service. Once you are in the hotel you get a New York feel and it is very cozy yet modern. I would come and stay at this hotel for a quick get away because it is quiet and cozy.

The concept that the NYLO is like a Manhattan loft experience is great marketing. Take a building and cram as many room in as possible, use "minimalist" (i.e., CHEAP) interior design with unpainted concrete and use cheap Ikea-type furnishings, and that sets the stage to fool the traveling public that their hotel is an "experience." The king-bed cell block that my wife and I were assigned to was the smallest hotel room I've ever seen, even for a cheap motel. The room was about 250 square feet. The privacy-be-damned bathroom took up one-fourth of the space, and includes the smallest counter space I've ever seen. The shower enclosure is cool, but as my wife complained, you can't shower without getting your hair wet since the shower head points straight down. The shower enclosure is frosted glass, which is nice except that it's also a wall on the other side, which means that if the other person is sleeping, the light from the bathroom will light up the entire room. The bathroom door was very trendy, but allowed anyone outside the door to see your business through a 1" crack when closed. Luckily my wife has already seen everything. The room was concrete walls with curtains on them, and the desk chair was too tall to slide under the tiny desk--a fundamental design flaw for a room this small. There is a very small brown couch and ottoman that looked plush but seemed to actually be upholstered wood blocks--the most uncomfortable couch ever. Overall, I sort of had to laugh, thinking the designers were actually having the last laugh. The bed was very comfortable, but the head of the bed, at the end of the rectangle by the sole window, is directly next to the A/C unit and in front of it as well, so that you in order to cool down the room to a decent temperature, you get the brunt of the freezing air while you're sleeping. Some may like this, as I do, but the A/C unit was so loud, with shuddering-metal and water-dripping sounds, that it was hard to sleep. Also, you could hear the boom-boom-boom bass from music until around 2 a.m., and our room wasn't even above the bar or on the pool side of the building. On our second morning, the boom-boom-boom started at, I kid you not, 7 a.m.! Anyway, the design of the area at the head of the bed requires you to stumble over two pointless steps and scrape past an end table and push aside giant hanging lamps in order to pull down the windowshade (no blackout curtain). It's the dumbest design I've ever seen, but hey! It's TRENDY! The floors are all concrete except for some cheap woven rugs in a couple of places, which makes for an alternately cold and itchy experience if you are barefoot. There is no closet to speak of, and there's not even a sign on the back of the door (isn't that LAW?) showing you where the fire exits are and what check-out time is. The pool area is super-cool, although the dark gray/black motif made the pool water look swampy and dark. The service at the pool was non-existent until after about 1 p.m., when someone turned up the music to a horrendously LOUD blast, louder than loud, ridiculously loud. We had given up trying to get a drink so I went to a nearby convenience store and bought a six-pack of beer. When a waiter finally did come around after the music started blasting, he chastised up for bringing our own beer. So my wife ordered a margarita, which was two-thirds full and average, which was $10. But that was a bargain compared to some of their other everyday cocktails, which ran to $14. Outrageous! Later, we went to the restaurant for some of the worst service ever (albeit friendly). The food arrived room-temperature, and both our entrees were super-salty (blecch). After thinking about the whole experience, I realized what the NYLO is. It's a place for trendy, irresponsible twenty-somethings and young adult couples to come hang around the pool, get smashed, and go upstairs to crash. In that respect, it makes complete sense.

Good Day Egorsti,

We strive very hard to ensure that all of our guests have a wonderfully delightful experience. I am disappointed to learn that we fell short on this goal during your last visit. Although we cannot change your experience, we do take your input seriously and will use it as a tool to improve upon in the restaurant. We fully intend to correct these mentioned issues to insure that other guest do not encounter them. This will be done with additional training and staffing. Although many guests love the overall design, we know that some may not, but please be assured that your comments have been shared with the team.

Great adult getaway place. Young, industrial, fun. It's not your typical luxury hotel so don't go expecting those amenities. There are concrete floors but area rugs, and that glass shower with the rain showerhead - awesome. The pool is amazing, the front desk staff were incredible. Only short comings, the staff in the restaurant/bar need some training in customer service. We waited 32 minutes for edamame, which came out half the serving you would get anywhere else for twice the cost. But the atmosphere is absolutely fun and hip. I think a lot of locals come here for night life.

Our room was well insulated sound wise - never were disturbed by outside noises. The maids were quick, and efficient. I totally recommend this to anyone wanting to have a fun weekend away with their spouse! This isn't our typical go to hotel (we love embassy suites) but we are definately putting this on our - when in Los Colinas, this is where we will stay list.

Im not sure why anyone would complain about lack of privacy in the room - yes, there is a glass wall in the shower but you can't see through it and yes, the heavy slider door is heavy (I couldn't budge it) but I have to argue that after 23 years of marriage, what is privacy? The bed is amazingly comfortable, and yes, the rooms are small. However, how much time do you spend in your hotel room? Plenty of room for two people, with a wife who overpacks! The night light over the door that comes on with a motion sensor is great - especially when it is pitch dark and you have to go to the bathroom - you don't need to turn on the light and wake up the spouse.

I'm an athlete and got a great workout in on the treadmill, ellipiticals and weight equipment! The billard/library room were cool and provided us a great place to hang without having to go out for night life. The only food we ate was the edamame, and they don't carry my wine (moscato) but I heard (from hub) that they made a mean martini. And apparently that's a good thing. I do know they have a great breakfast buffet for $15 but we didn't eat that - I can't eat enough for justify $15 meal.

I will say that i didn't notice any children - which was great because we were not there to be around kids but instead to have a nice, quiet adult weekend.
Can't wait to go back.

Room Tip: ask for a glass room. They are the best. If you get an ADA and your not needing one, they'll b...

Came here on a two night promotion and my wife and I thought the hotel was different and cool - eclectic, very modern decor obviously patterned after a NY Loft experience. Concrete walls and floors, huge sliding metal barn door type door to the bathroom, which had a curved solid piece of glass as a wall that glowed on the outside. Rain shower was awesome! Bed is great. Overall room is small, but snazzy decor. Two complaints - small sofa is way too firm, and there's a light over the door into the room that has a motion sensor, so every time you get up in the night it comes on for two minutes. It's meant as a nightlite but is way too bright, needs some type of cover.
Front desk staff was very friendly, nice workout facility, unusual library/billiard room off the restaurant.
The restaurant, though, was by far the lowlight of the weekend. Very noisy when its full (concrete floors again), but the service was horrible. Hostess seated us and then we waited for 15 minutes with no waitress coming to our table. After asking the hostess for service, the waitress came, but she had an attitude, had the prices wrong on the happy hour specials, and the draft beer tap was broken. We ordered a chicken flat bread (which came out cold and overcooked), a burger (not hot), calimari and shrimp plate (good portions but also cold), and sliders (which were marginal). The food may have been good when it was hot, so waitress may be at fault for waiting too long. Also, a pitcher of margaritas had very little alcohol in it...more like Koolaid.
Bar and pool are have plenty of lounge space and misters for hot Texas summer.
Overall, we thought the concept was cool and would stay at the hotel again, but go somewhere else to eat.

Room Tip: Pay a bit extra to get upgraded room with floor to ceiling windows. More of a loft experience.

A little too modern for me, and if you love your privacy this is not the place for you. The bathroom door was a slider that was open from the 7 foot top up to the ceiling, so everything done in the bathroom could be heard and, if standing in the place to see through the slits where the door meets the wall, seen. The service was awesome, the room was nice but not in any way luxurious. Sparse and modern. An OK stay but could not get past the privacy issue.

10 of my friends walk in to restaurant to celebrate one of my friends Birthday on July 23rd evening 6.00 PM. The horrible waitress Andrea [---] walks to our table to take the order and once we ordered the drinks she showed up with the drinks after 20 minutes, if we wanted to order more or some food we have to wait for ever, ask some one to send the waitress and then finally she took the food order and showed up after 40 minutes with part of the order, when we asked her to cancel the remaining order as some of my friends walked out losing patience, she obliged and then when the bill comes in she charged us for it and when we asked she said she can't help it. And she was so rude at us. When we asked for the contact number of the manager she gave us the business card of the chef who is no longer with them. Finally the horrible manger walks out with big attitude and tries to justify for the waitress horrible service and he says he will try to refund the
money back and comes back with a vague reason says he can't. I have never come across this horrible service from any restaurant in Dallas. I strongly recommend everyone to check the bill if NYLO is charging the right amount and if possible to stay away from NYLO.

Stayed with three girlfriends for a getaway weekend. Two adjoining double/double rooms were perfect, and the front desk was great about making sure we got the adjoining rooms, even when arriving very late. The rooms were on the small side, for sure. The decor is modern and industrial, which may not appeal to everyone The beds and bedding were extremely comfortable, and the shower was wonderful -- large shower head, great pressure.

We spent Saturday at the pool. It was an unusually busy day according to the (excellent) waitstaff. We had a great day, but it was definitely an adult day at the pool. Towels were at a premium... There never seemed to be enough. There are cabanas, but they are too far from the actual pool to be desirable. The water was really too warm, but with a long stretch of extremely hot weather -- even for Dallas -- and way too many people in the pool, it couldn't be helped.

NYLO is a great choice for a couple's getaway or girls' weekend. It might work well for business travel, assuming a quieter atmosphere during the week. If staying more than a few nights, the standard rooms might feel cramped.
