“A Fresh Taste of a French Bistro”
Reviewed April 30, 2013

"La Mad's" has been a favorite eatery of our family for probably twenty years (lost track). We have dined at La Mad's bistros in Fort Worth (our first love), Houston, Dallas, and more recently every year in Irving when we return for an annual conference. Perhaps it's all the better because we don't have one in Colorado Springs (are you listening La Madeleiene?!), but we work in 2-3 trips during those busy weekends, with staff and just as a family. La Mad's has changed through the years, and become just a tad bit more "commercialized," but it still retains all of its original French countryside charm, their signature good coffee, and great all fresh foods. The baked goods are excellent (we use their catering for a small tea at our conference), the ready-serve foods always fresh and delicious (Caesar salads, quiche, soups, potato galette French hash browns, and more), and the bread (three kinds), real butter, and preserves are always fresh and free free. Nice heavy wood tables, brick and wood, and classical music make it a get-away-from-the-city-outside stopping place for any meal. Highly recommended.

“Nice staff, slow food delivery”
Reviewed April 13, 2013

A nice little La Madelaine with very pleasant people working there. Went in for a late breakfast (about 1000) It wasn't too busy but did have customers. Ordered off the menu, a French Country breakfast: scrambled eggs, sausage, croissant and potato galette. I finally had to get up and ask where the food was after 15 minutes had passed. It arrived right after I asked. I don't know if they forgot it or what the problem was but, for something that simple and with minimal guests, it took too long.

“It's good .. nothing to die for!”
Reviewed January 18, 2013 via mobile

Been here a couple times, love their desserts - esp. the coconut cake.. the rest is good, tasty and fresh. Is there something that jumps out at you - unique - not really.. makes for a good early dinner or a light lunch. Pricey though!!

“If this is French, I'm Miss USA”
Reviewed December 18, 2012

To call this French cuisine is analogous to calling Taco Bell Mexican. Yeah the roots might be there but it is also where it ends. If you are a true French cuisine lover, please do not go here. It's just wrong.

First let's start with the fact that it's cafeteria style, lot's of pre-made sitting in heat lamps food. It's fast food with a twist. What we ordered...

Hubby ordered Paella, what this Spanish dish has to do with France escapes me, but ok. It was edible, but let's not confuse it with either Paella or French. I ordered the Chicken Riviera Crepes. Why oh why did I do that.. just really wrong. I know they use the whole chicken, how do I know that you ask? Probably because on a couple of bites I ended up with chicken bones. The crepe itself was good, but it was so smothered in sauce that it was 90% mush. The French never smother their food in such a manner. The sauce is to enhance not over power the dish. Then let's discuss this broccoli sauce smothering the chicken crepe. Have you ever had canned broccoli soup? If yes, then you have had this sauce. Just add chicken crepes, bones and a can of soup and VOILA, you have chicken riviera crepes.

It was amazing to me that this place was so packed. I guess people want to pretend they have had French cuisine without paying the price. If you like your food generic and smothered, this is the place for you. Otherwise do not bother. Just stop buy grab a dessert to go and GO.

“Where's the French chef? Still, did not disappoint!”
Reviewed November 27, 2012

Ten of us had brunch here. We were able to get a back room to ourselves.
The food was above average. My Eggs Benedict were quite good and the croissants were great. The free bread was very good. The wine selection is quite limited, but the wine was pretty good.
