“Fitting Tribute”
Reviewed August 18, 2014

Physically, Sam Houston stood well over six feet tall. His accomplishments exceeded his stature, and this monument is of a fitting scale. True, you can see it from I-45, but you can't appreciate its size until you stand at its base.

I enjoyed my visit, and got information on attractions, restaurants, etc. from the helpful people in the visitor center. This attraction is worth a stop.

“tribute to a great man”
Reviewed August 5, 2014

I have visited in the past but it was well worth another trip just
to watch the reaction of my grandchildren as they rounded the
path and came up on this enormous statue. This wonderful work
of art was created by the famous David Addicks. You will also
see the mold that he used for the face of the statue. Sam is known
locally as the man-with-the-stick. A must see.

“Impressive”
Reviewed July 27, 2014

This is a required visit for all Texans. The lovely wooded grounds are the perfect setting for the amazing, huge statue. Kids will have a blast! Take lots of pictures.

“Cant miss this statue from the highway”
Reviewed July 16, 2014

Extremely large statue that is visible from the highway. Not too difficult to locate. Enjoyed the walk on the trail to get to it, but would not be readily accessible for someone physically handicapped.

“Pretty Cool!!”
Reviewed July 12, 2014 via mobile

I thought that this was going to be a nice 0.5 mile hike or so. It's just a good place to stretch your legs and see a giant statue of an important person in Texas History.
