This is country for sure! A little bit of everything including old timers in rocking chairs by the fireplace! Opened in 1946 and the first owner used World War II surplus refrigeration equipment to preserve frozen foods. In 1971 it went through a major renovation and duplicates the outer features of a cabin built in the 1800's. It has original cedar posts and river rock from honey creek. It is the only source of gas between the cities of Ingram and Garven. There is a place to order BBQ and odds and ins too.

Cute little store to come in out of the heat and take a load off at! Has a little bit of everything you could need while vacationing...we came for ice cream a couple of times while on the river! Loved seeing the locals just sitting in the rocking chairs visiting!

We ordered brisket plates and were disappointed to find the brisket was obviously reheated, tough and very fatty with lots of inedible parts. The coleslaw was limp and tasteless but the salad (a side choice) was surprisingly large and offered spring greens but no tomatoes. Salad dressing is bottled variety.
We purchased coffee in the store which was priced with a sticker that did not match their cash register and were overcharged. When we questioned this discrepancy, the clerk said that he didn't know why the prices didn't match but that the register price was final as it was too difficult to change. Our persistence in remedying this was eventually met with a refund. Ridiculous!

We love the Hunt Store. It is the central watering hole for Hunt. They have live music on the weekends, and their food options seem to continually improve. You can sit on wood stools and picnic tables in the back of the store, or outside in the summer, and enjoy simple but excellent food choices. There are also convenience services like an ATM and general food provisions. When you drive up, don't be surprised to see locals sitting in the front, laughing together, or looking at the postings on the bulletin board outside.

Friendly store but limited inventory (think beer, wine, and chips). Though we didn't eat there the little picnic table furnished restaurant seems to be pretty popular for burgers and barbeque. The co-joined bank has an ATM.
