Drought has really taken its toll on Mercer. The face of the garden and arboretum has certainly changed. Still, a very beautiful escape and worth a trip to visit If you're in the area.

Visit in April when everything is in bloom and the weather is nice. Pack a picnic to enjoy at the park. Great for photos, families or a romantic stroll.

We visited the botanic gardens on 11 April, just because we saw the title on a road map. What a gem! It's free parking and free admission. There is a gift shop, drinks and toilets. We did not see anywhere to purchase food. The gardens are super - very well tended, and everything labelled. There are formal walks and trail walks - where dogs are welcome - but get a map from the information office. We saw birds, butterflies, frogs, and a rabbit. The flowers were delightful - colourful and heady with perfume. Lots of ponds and water features, and shady seats for visitors to rest. Well worth a visit.

Especially in the spring time when everything is blooming! Flowers after flowers, and we enjoyed the herb gardens as well. An interpretive center and "country store". If you like plants you will love this place!
