Country Inn & Suites By Carlson, Houston Intercontinental Airport East
Ranked #8 of 38 Hotels in Humble
Reviewed March 15, 2012

We were overnighting in Houston (Humble) to connect to an early morning flight, after arriving late. We got in too late to catch the shuttle from the airport to the hotel (I think it ends at 10pm, best to check). We got the second shuttle out in the morning at 6 30 am. So in total we maybe stayed here about 4 hours.
So it's tough to review, rooms were adequate, relatively clean, we asked for a king but only got a double, there were two, they said they were fully booked. I emailed them a couple of times and got no response, so it's hard to find out information unless you phone. The room was relatively clean, the breakfast was actually pretty good, with a fair variety, it was serve yourself. The shuttle was non eventful, but full.
I found hotels to be expensive around Bush International Airport, so this was a lower price 3 star listed on HOTWIRE.com, so you don't know the brand name when you are booking, just the number of stars and if it has a shuttle or a pool, or breakfast etc. It's a gamble when you book this way, and to be honest I have a hard time saying this was a 3 star hotel like Hotwire suggests. Hmmmmmmmm buyer beware, but this place worked for what we wanted, a bed, an airport shuttle, a clean bathroom and a breakfast. $75 in total with Hotwire, I wouldn't want to stay more than one night though as it had a weird smell to our room and it was just not up to 3 star quality.

Room Tip: Saved on Hotwire, but not 3 star quality, more like 2 1/2 and somehow if you book a King Bed, good l...

Thank you for taking the time to write this review. On behalf of the entire hotel, my sincere apologies are to you for all the inconveniences that you encountered during your stay with us. Our staff is trained to inspect the linen before placing them in the room, but in this instance we failed to do so. This is not our normal practice and as you can see by the other reviews, we generally have the guests best interest in our mind. We loved having you here and hope when you return we can be the hotel that lives up to your expectations.

Started going south when we tried to check in early and they wanted an extra $25.
We booked a king they gave us the keys and when we got to the room found that it was a double queen. Went down to the desk and they played possum saying the did not realize that we booked a king. No kings available so they gave us a suite which was not suitable as we have a toddler and could not proof such a room.
They found us a king but the bathroom had black mold around the tub and on the walls. They refused to refund us our money but told us we did not have to stay.
The location was hard to get to, the rooms were dated, the pool had a smell due to not having enough ventilation. The general manager did not understand customer service and could not see our concerns about the rooms. Basically it just came down to them focused on how much money they make.
As an independent hotel corporate did not give us any support saying that it was something between us and the hotel. They did not seem to care about how much this tarnished their name.
Will not recommend this hotel and will stay away from this chain in future.

My boyfriend and I stayed there for a weekend in January for my birthday. The room was smaller than I thought it would be for the price and very average. We got the whirlpool suite and I did enjoy that. The jacuzzi was dirty or dusty and we asked for cleaning supplies but the guy at the front desk said that he couldn't find any cleaner to give us but bleach. It was kinda noisy and the people next door to us were very loud although during our whole stay we rarely saw any of the patrons that were staying at the hotel, which made it funny to us on how much noise we heard. The breakfast was alright but nothing to talk about. The first day they had tacos and the tortillas were very hard. The next day the bacon was hard and so was the bread. they did have a small fitness center in which we utilized. I will choose a better quality hotel next time because the room was just too small for the price.

This was our first stay at this facility and we will definately be back. The helpfulness of the staff is always important to us, and we would give Carmelo a 10+ as well as the rest of the staff! Our stay was awesome, we used the pool area - VERY CLEAN AND WELL KEPT and the other amenities were a 10 too. The free buffet style breakfast was great, hot and fresh and the area was clean! OUR ROOM WAS HUGE.... loved loved loved it! Thank you!

Room Tip: We were in room 211 right above the pool.. great for kids because you don't have to worry about...

Carmelo, the front desk manager, and the crew were really appreciated. We phoned from the airport and within 10 min our ride was there. We were greeted by name when we entered the building and settled into a big, clean room in minutes. The desk clerk on evening shift didn't want us to try crossing the 12 lanes of road and freeway on foot and recommended a good takeout that delivered. The bed was comfy and the room was quiet. Breakfast was a buffet of hot and cold cereals, toast, bagels, pastries, muffins, waffles, eggs, sausage patties, biscuits n gravy, coffee, juice, milk, tea. No reason to leave hungry! Thank you to the server who took the time to chat and make sure we had all we needed. We booked the ride back to the airport and the driver was right on time. There is a mall within walking distance and several other stores, on "this side of the roads"
