Starting with Valet this hotel is accommodating. The check in was a snap. And if you have had a horrible experience you will appreciate a person with good manners that makes check easy(as it should be always in a perfect world). The room was clean and surprisingly large for just a plan 2 queen room. The travel size soaps and shampoo and conditioner smelled citrus fresh. I will definitely be staying here again.More

The Westin Oaks Houston at the Galleria
The Westin Oaks at the Galleria is well-situated (being built on top of a large mall, and convenient for many business and tourist sites). What it is , though, is average....very average. Don't read me wrong, the rooms are spacious and clean. The service is fine. The rates ok. But, there is nothing about the hotel that stands out.
This trip, the room was overlooking the pool, which is closed for renovation. I was next to an ice-machine room and so there was some noise at night, but overall it is reasonably quiet. The challenge, remains that there is no reason to stay in the hotel other than in your room to sleep. The restaurant is ok, but one is surrounded by a range of superb eateries. The bar is uninviting and there isn't really anything else.
If you want a good, clean, hotel with access to a mall then this is the place for you. If you like your hotel with more character and life then there are other places.

Just returned home from a five night stay at this property. Check in was easy. Self parking is in the Galleria parking garage. The hotel elevators operate where you select the floor that you want to go on the touchpad and the systems tells you which elevator will stop on your floor.
Our room was on the 9th floor facing Westheimer Rd. As noted in other reviews, noise from the outside is an issue for this property. Several times at night during our stay, we could hear loud engine noise from cars racing along Westhemer Rd.
Noise aside, our room was very nice. I'm guessing that our hotel floor was recently renovated. Nice quality furnishings and linens. Plenty of channel options on the TV. Wifi worked fine. The pool area is closed for renovations.
Housekeeping was fine. I don't understand why they leave the air conditioning on during the day when we're not in the room. Seems like a waste of electricity.
The on-screen checkout on the TV wasn't working when I needed to check out at 5:30am. As a result, I had to stop at the front desk to check out the old fashioned way. Not a big deal.
Would I stay here again? Not until they get the noise issue resolved. I prefer an uninterrupted sleep.

The noises never stopped. This hotel is not soundproof at all. Between door slamming, or even just opening, some constant banging, loud voices and street noises it is not where I'd recommend if you are trying to sleep. Try to get as far away from the elevator.
