“Modern hotel”

I stayed here over a weekend while visiting a friend nearby. I was impressed how the front desk was handling an irate customer while I checked in nearby.
The elevators are the type where you specify which floor you want before entering - it took me a minute to remember how to use them.
The rooms are larger than normal hotels even by Westin standards, but the bathrooms are definitely small. I heard traffic out in the hall but turning on my AC unit masked that noise.
Will stay here again over other upscale hotels in the area.

This hotel seems to be in the process of being remodeled. Although the majority of the construction appears to be done. The guest rooms are very spacious and have been newly decorated, but the bathroom was awful. The shower faucet fixture was updated, but the rest of the bathroom was not. The hallways and lobby are newly decorated and very clean. The pool was horrendous. This hotel is attached the Galleria mall which was pretty bad. If you need to stay in this area, this hotel is fine. Otherwise don't go out of your way to stay here.

Stayed for one night on business and was pleasantly surprised by the excellent customer service at check-in. Given a room near the top which resulted in excellent views. The room was large and very clean. Recent updates in the room and bathroom added nicely to the experience.Direct access to the mall from the hotel is very convenient.

Unless you pay the hefty valet fee, you need to self-park, which can be quite the experience during busy shopping times at the Galleria. Fortunately, I lucked out, finding an underground parking spot across the parking lot from the hotel, even though it was on the bottom level, in the back corner of the garage! Again, it is good fortune to find a spot anywhere in that garage. If you don't leave your items at the lobby item before parking your car (if you can maneuver the valet traffic first while unloading your car) please note that there is no elevator on the bottom floor of the parking garage so be prepared to walk up stairs with your items.

Great location to stay if you're looking to shop and eat in the Galleria or surrounding areas without having to drive. No hesitation whatsoever to stay there again.

It's easy to get spoiled after achieving Starwood Platinum status. you expect at least a room upgrade, if only to the SPG floor. At this Westin, there was no upgrade, no club floor, no club and NO HOT WATER for my 5 am shower. There were no electric plugs near the bed for my CPAP machine, unless you count the wall of plugs that all were dead. With all the options available in Houston, this will not be at the top of my list of paces to stay. Very disappointing experience.

Please allow me to apologize that your stay was less than you expected regarding the lack of an SPG upgrade and the inconsistency in the water temperature.

In regard to the Suite Upgrades, our property receives a large percentage of guests who are convention based travelers and therefore we do not have an abundance of suites to offer. At this Westin, we have approximately 9 suites total. We handle all upgrades for Platinum and Gold guests based on our availability, and due to the low number of available suites, these are frequently reserved for days at a time, and months in advance. If a suite is available and unreserved for the length of stay, we are always more than happy to honor the upgrade benefit associated with your SPG status.

I fully understand your frustrations and your concerns regarding your experience with the guest shower. A shower or bath, at a comfortable temperature, is an essential aspect of any form of traveling and I empathize with you. Please know that this is not the experience we wish to create for any of our guests; let alone a Starwood Preferred Guest. We sincerely apologize that your expectations were not met during your stay and we sincerely regret failing to deliver on our commitment to a serene and invigorating Westin experience.

At the Westin Oaks Houston, we understand that your time is extremely valuable, and we greatly appreciate you providing your feedback. We apologize that this experience did not live up to the standards you have come to expect from our brand. While staying in the hotel from 15.03.13-16.03.13 somebody tried to open the room door by force while I was sleeping with the DND sign on the door after noticing room was occupied they cried maintenance and were gone luckily not having been able to enter as all locks were engaged.
Investigation by hotel security was rather reluctant , even after 6 !! hours nobody had viewed any security videos...best advice , directly call the houston police department next time.The only answer having been supplied was that someone from maintenance was in the room earlier (while still having the sign out) without ever notifying me...big security issue.
After several attempts to speak to the management I was still stranded with some servic guy from the helpdesk.
Bathroom was in a terrible state for a freshly rennovated westin. Rusty pipes , rusty hinges , flaking paint,...

In regard to the situation you described, we do apologize that your impression of these events created a negative impact on your stay. You may be interested to know that during your stay an extensive investigation was preformed regarding the situation. In accordance with the information provided to you by the Assistant Director of Security and the Hotel Manager, one of our Engineering staff members was attempting to follow up on a request made and did not notice that the Do Not Disturb sign had fallen off of the door. Upon his entrance to the room, and noticing that it was occupied, he followed our procedures and refrained from entering the room any further. We do apologize if you had a different impression of these events and regret if they were not more effectively communicated to you.

We do greatly appreciate your feedback regarding the conditions of the room that you reported during your stay and here on Tripadvisor. We will be sure that this information is sent to our Engineering Director so that the appropriate actions can be taken.

Went to houston on business. My boss booked the rooms I didn't know what I was going to find.. But I was surprised... Big rooms, pleasant staff. If I'm ever in Houston again I will stay here!!!! Plus attached to the galleria shopping mall... Great parking !!

The Westin Oaks Houston at the Galleria is a quality hotel with nice interior and friendly service. The hotel lobby is decorated with granite and has a welcoming feel. The bar on the lobby floor is also a nice touch to the overall stay. The rooms are spacious, clean, and well maintained. The view over the city facing Westheimer is also a nice addition to the rooms. The tvs are nice, and the beds are very comfortable. Overall the hotel is high quality, well maintained and connect to the Galleria, with allows easy acces to go shopping and return to your room without any hassles!

Room Tip: Get a room facing Westhemier the view is much better than the rear facing rooms!
