Westin Galleria Houston Hotel

Stayed here recently for a conference. It's about half an hour from IAH, about $60 by cab. It's conveniently located smack dab in the huge Galleria mall, with Macy's, Nordstrom's, a skating rink and all the big mall stores. The facade/lobby is nothing to write home about, basically another mall entrance. And it's a little odd coming down from your hotel room and having to cross the hallway of the mall to get to the conference rooms.
My 5th floor view was of a back part of the mall, nothing scenic. Room was roomy, though the Westin amenities were average. The bed was comfortable. The hotel "restaurant" was the Daily Grill (bar and grill) next door in the mall. Again, odd, but there were convenient other dining options (mall fare mostly) a few steps away.

Stayed 2 nights for business and while it has great access to the mall the rest of the hotel is just average. The room was clean and spacious with all the Westin ammenities however the overall hotel is a bit blah. You have no restaurant or bar in the hotel and need to go to the Daily Grill out in the mall. Very little lobby seating for the size of the hotel and it could use an upgrade. It is a good business hotel however nothing to write home about.

Just stayed here on the fly, came to town for a weekend getaway and found this Hotel on the starwood website. What a great hotel, it's close to shopping and restaurants. The rooms have beautiful views of downtown Houston, checkin was a little crazy but after that it was all good. Great price and all the amenities you need right there

Room Tip: Facing downtown

This is my favorite hotel in Houston! Also good service and clean rooms. Parking next to the hotel and its free. Try 'The Grill' a nice and cosy restaurant next to the hotel in the mall.

Really enjoyable stay. We got a great rate and had a room on the 18th floor. The room was clean and recently refurbished. Good quality bedding and fittings as well as starbucks coffee as one would expect from Westin. Staff polite and helpful, great location for the Galleria and reasonably close to downtown if you want to explore Houston.
There was a power outage affecting the whole Galleria complex on our first night. Staff were very assistive, helping guests etc. Shirley on the concierge desk was a true star, recommending various places to try that may have power. She even took the time to walk out to the front of the hotel to direct us. Much appreciated!
Only downside was the extractor fan in the bathroom was out of action and the room safe was locked. We rang around 9am and was told someone would be up asap, no one turned up and as we wanted to explore downtown we left, returning in the evening the safe hadn't been unlocked. It took two calls to get the room safe unlocked. This was the only disappointment during a very enjoyable stay!

I paid $20 a day for Internet in this hotel, and it still sucks. Browsing is slow. Speed is almost useless for voip communications, and forget about watching streaming videos.

And this plan was their 'fastest' Internet plan (Elite). So much for this being a 'business' hotel.

Also, we requested a King bed, but they gave us 2 queens, saying they were sold out even though we made our reservations 2 months in advance.

Otherwise OK hotel, and proximity to Galleria is convenient.

I was here for 1 night at this hotel in September. This property is certainly showing its age, The rooms are spacious and seem to have been refurnished but still old bits n pieces are evident. I had called up hotel about my early arrival and I was promised room would be available. After I reached at around 12 noon , hotel staff asked me to wait for 1:30 hrs !! I was told they are not sure when room will be ready and I shd check after 1 hr I know this doesn't sound like big issue but after 18 hrs in flight last thing one wld expect is to wait for an hour to check in to room. Also even though parking is right next to hotel, it takes 5 - 10 mins to walk back , it's not convenient and one will have to opt for valet. The only great thing about this hotel is accessibility to Galleria mall .........nothin else really stands out

Dear SamKool, I am sincerely sorry your stay in our hotel was less than perfect. The Westin Galleria underwent a multi-million dollar transformation about two years ago and we have received inspiring feedback regarding our recent changes. Many of our guests are delighted with our new product; however, we are sorry these new changes fell short of your expectations. We do apologize you had to wait for a room upon your arrival to our hotel after an 18hour flight and we empathize with you. Check-in time is 3:00pm and we are happy to know we were able to accommodate your early check-in request before our normal check-in time. Again, I apologize your stay was not exactly what you envisioned and we hope you give us an opportunity to make a better impression in the future.

Be Well,

Danny
