Was celbrating my GF Birthday at a restaurant in the Galleria. This hotel is located accross the street from the Galleria which made it extremely convient. We had 4 rooms and the front desk staff did a great job of assisting me with my 4 rooms. Everyone in the party commented on how nice everything was.

Recommend this place and I will stay again.THANK YOU!!!!

Room Tip: Very nice gym, the pool area a little small. Valet parking is a little pricey.

a nice hotel with excellent quiet air con.....the staff are very friendly and it is exceptionally clean , however the toilet hissed all night and would not stop the blind does'nt fit the window so the room is not dark and the most annoying thing is the radio alarm clock picks up your mobile reception and LOUDLY buzzes all night meaning you have to leave your mobile the other side of the room, i am leaving this hotel unrested and groggy

This hotel is not as impressive as I expected, especially for the price. Self parking is $17 per day. The rooms are clean, but small. The bathroom is very small. The concierge lounge, open to Gold Elite members and up, was just so-so. The decaf coffee was lukewarm two evenings when I went for dessert at the concierge lounge. The best thing about this hotel is the location - lots of shopping and restaurants nearby. Also, good selection of TV channels to watch. Overall, this hotel is OK as long as your expectations are not too high.

I view the JW Marriott brand as the luxury selection in the Marriott chain and while this property is a very nice business/convention hotel, it is far from luxurious. The rooms are average at best. Clean, modern but small and what you would expect in a business hotel. The bathroom was very small and very tired with a broken shower curtain rod and the tub and toilet in a seperate room with the sink and vanity in the carpeted portion of the room. Very cheap. Staff was ok, nice and efficient ...but again nothing spectacular. If you get a good rate stay here but this is no different than the 10 other business hotels surrounding the galleria shopping area.

Checked in late, had some items I needed to store in a refrigerator, but they were all out. Iced things down, refrigerator was brought in next day. Housekeeper moved items into refrigerator, leaving a note she had done so. Great housekeeping service. Beds comfortable, plenty of towels, great location.

The Houston JW Marriott is literally across the street from the Galleria shopping mall. You walk across the street and you are inside Macy's. This places it within an easy walk of an extraordinary range of stores and restaurants, but about 7 miles west of downtown Houston. Self-parking is available, but you will need to look for it (or ask the valet) because it is not immediately obvious and you may think you have no choice but to valet park. The hotel itself is nice, as are most JW Marriotts, but it is beginning to show some signs of wear and tear. Think of this as a really nice Marriott, or an average (or even slightly below average) JW Marriott in terms of the overall condition of the hotel, furnishings, service, etc. The upside is that I was able to get a rate far below what you would normally expect to pay for a JW Marriott (or even a really nice Marriott) so definitely check for specials.

Was there for 10 nights on a business trip with a group of colleagues.

The room was very big and spacious. Great layout and you don’t get that cluttered living-in-one-space feeling that too often accompanies hotel rooms.

The beds were great with plenty of pillows. The work-area was very good, with good lighting and the option of connecting your laptop to a wired Ethernet (quite convenient if you need the speed). The wireless network was fine too. The room had one good chair for the work-area and a comfy-chair to relax in. All in all the room was about as good as you can expect from business hotels.

Cleaning was very good, as were all other aspects of customer service. On such a long stay (10 days) one notes these things and the quality were good and consistent all the time.

Location is about as good as it gets for Houston: Just across the street from the Galleria, short walk to a 24/7 drugstore and plenty of dining-options. One tip; overall I felt the quality/price ratio of meals improved the further you left the Galleria. The Lounge bar/restaurant at the hotel was excellent if pricey. A great place to relax and have a beer after a long work-day.

The exercise room is extremely good. Definitely have your exercise kit with you.

I would have appreciated a self-service laundry (as can be found in many Marriott hotels). The hotel offers laundry but for a 10 day trip I would have preferred self-service.

Access to parking was good. Cost extra but that´s to be expected.

Only niggle I have was the price of the Ethernet connection (wired and wireless). The charge was quite high and most hotels offer this free now-a days.

The ultimate test: Would I stay there again? Definitely. The hotel was clean, rooms great, service fantastic and location ideal.

There is one thing most European travelers should be aware of though. If I hadn’t had this happen before in hotels in the USA I would possibly lower my rating for this hotel to a zero…

My room was pre-paid by my company. When I arrived I had to let the reception swipe my card for security. Just in case I stole a towel or didn’t pay for breakfast. OK – no problem. But the hotel took the security amount for each and every day of my stay so basically my company had prepaid AND I was securing the already paid bill. Plus the first day the security deposit was substantially higher than the other days. The amount was never charged to my card but the security was withdrawn from my credit limit daily. At the end of 10 days several in my party had maxed their cards. It took Marriott several days after we left to clear the security off the cards. This caused us immense inconveniences on our travel home.
