“Great service, convenient location”
Reviewed August 5, 2014

I stayed here for a conference, and the staff was very friendly and helpful, the room was large, clean, and recently updated, and they had nice touches (nice tea and coffee out in the morning, fruit-infused water out all day, etc..) The gym has a lot of equipment and was rarely full. It is just a few blocks from the convention center and across from a specialty grocery store/restaurant. There aren't a lot of other restaurants in the area, though, except ones in hotels.

Megan 6229, thank you for taking the time to pen a review! We're so glad to have been able to host you during your recent conference stay, and it's a pleasure to know you were able to enjoy the morning tea & coffee / fruit-infused water and the gym. Downtown Houston can be a great dining spot, however, agreed - it can be difficult to find! We hope to be able to to offer advice & our car service on your next trip!

The staff is attentive, courteous, very warm, and charming. The rooms are recently renovated and look sleek and modern. Nightlife is right around the corner coupled with very cute restaurants. The pool looks great and is the perfect escape from the city.

The was our first trip to Houston Tx and it was the last hotel we stayed in on a 3 week vacation. We booked the Executive Suite and it overlooked the pool. The room was large but had a funny smell like a bug spray...couldn't work out what it was. As a family (hubby, me & two girls 10 & 12yrs) the suite had a king bed with a pull out sofa. The room is a little dated (doesn't quite measure up to the lobby), but the beds were comfy and the girls even thought the pull out bed was comfy! The doormen/concierge, wait staff etc were all friendly. They sent up milk and cookies for the girls and gave them a soft toy each on arrival which was a lovely touch which we appreciated. Unfortunately the first night the turn-down service didn't set up the pull out bed so when we arrived back at 11pm at night we had to wait for housekeeping to come and set it up and put sheets on it etc, they did apologise. Location is good if you are going to the Arena, but there's not much else going on around there, it's a bit of a ghost town. We loved the Phoenician across the road which had gourmet food (a novelty trying American food as we are from New Zealand) and the café/bar attached had a great bar menu. They had a games day so my girls played board games, table tennis etc while we waited for our food to arrive...they loved it. The food court attached to the Four Seasons services the office workers but is good and there is a pharmacy and one or two gift/clothes stores in there too, but its not a shopping mall! We ate breakfast one morning at the Four Seasons and it was nice. Compared to other Hotels we've stayed in The Four Seasons was o.k for our family this trip but if you're seeking luxury the rooms won't measure up, if you want atmosphere the location is ghost town CBD, o.k for a family trip (there's a pool)....would we rush back? No, we wouldn't, but it was nice.....

Cherryl C -

Thank you so much for sharing your experience with us, and we're pleased to have been the final Houston stop on such a long family vacation! We do apologize for the oversight on preparing the turn-down for the pull-out sofa, but we're glad to hear your family enjoyed the service experience and the pool as well. We've dispatched our maintenance team to investigate any scent disparity, and appreciate your sharing this concern, as we do have an upcoming renovation planned.

You're correct in that the central business district does cater primarily to the 9-5 crowd, but we're glad to hear you discovered one of our favorite neighborhood spots, Phoenicia Foods & MKT bar! Should you join us again, we'd love to have our concierge recommend a few destinations downtown with a bit of interest for all ages - including nearby Discovery Green park's activities, and the entertainment / Market Square historical district's fun evening events, including Blanket Bingo nights - our house car is always at the ready to explore a little further, as well. We'd love the opportunity to host you in the future, should your travels bring you back to the US and Houston!

Wife and I stayed here to celebrate our 8th wedding anniversary and to attend her high school reunion. The Four Seasons made both events memorable for us. Relaxing get away from the kids, clean, elegant rooms, VIP treatment all the way. Would do it again.

We recently had the opportunity for a quick night away from the kids and the Four Seasons was great! We were quickly checked in by happy and courteous staff. I mentioned that we had friends coming as well and requested we be on the same floor. This was no problem at all for them. We were also able to use the hotel's driver to get to and from dinner. The day we left, the bellman came very quickly after I called. He also offered to call the valet so our car would be packed and ready to go as soon as we checked out. A wonderful experience all the way around and I would definitely stay here again!

Customer service was great. The concierge and reception staff were enthusiastic and helpful. The door person was more like a manager greeting your arrive/return. Theres complimentary natural flavored water in lobby. Hotel was quiet and pleasant overall.

Negatives: Entire hotel was completely outdated. It looks a time warp to 1990s. The lobby was a bit dark. The Bar was completely uninspiring and mostly empty. The pool is more like a kiddie pool, definitely cannot swim. The gym was desperately in need of an upgrade, but their equipment is nice.
