“Easy fix for a neglected property”
Reviewed March 18, 2012

It's easy to see this property used to be on the cutting edge of fashion, but that was many years ago. The architecture and design are still nice today. The problem with this property is that there seems to lack a management inspection program in place to ensure the top-notch "Hilton" experience is maintained. The carpet is in really bad need of replacement. As we walk from the parking garage we find ourselves wondering just how bad does the carpet have to get to warrant replacement, does it have to have holes in it? The housekeeping standards are pretty much non-existent as well. The carpet is filthy. We stayed for 4 nights and did not have our room vacuumed even once. Mold is growing on the shower curtain. Caulking is missing between the shower tiles. Large visible stains on the room carpet. A strong musty smell in the room. This hotel has consistently awarded really cheap ($50-$60) price-line bids, probably a desperate attempt to improve their occupancy rate. We have taken advantage of this rate on many occasions, but no longer. Our patience has worn thin ... just like their threadbare carpet!

I have stayed since last year 6 times there for 2 to 3 weeks at a time. A good well maintained, but a bit older hotel. Staff is exceptionally helpfull. Breakfast is fine although starting as from 07.00 hrs is a bit late. Parking is fine but expensive. Being a Hilton GOLD member the upgrades are fine. Laundry services are expensive and could exceed new replacement value

Room Tip: Junior executive suite is quite nice

Thought the hotel was very nice, located downtown so close to much there. Had to pay for parking like any downtown hotel but rooms were clean, internet worked well, nice starbucks for coffee and was clean.

We stayed at the Hilton Houston Post Oak while visiting Houston for a wedding. We chose the hotel for location which was convenient to, but nicely removed from the Galleria shopping complex. Access to and from the 610 loop was easy, and the hotel setting on Post Oak Boulevard is very attractive and desirable.

The staff was gracious and efficient, and the rooms are well appointed. Our view from the 14th floor looking northwest was beautiful. Abdul served us breakfast in the Prommenade Restaurant. He was most personable and professional. Ask for him. Landa in the Brittany Bar was also a great server and made us feel special on two visits. Loved the atmosphere and food was excellent.

We think the Hilton is one of the best vales for the money in town. We will be back!

Room Tip: Ask for the front side, high up...Tower Lounge is special amenity for those on floor 14.

Booked a low rate on Priceline and based on other reviews I expected that we'd be shunted into the worst rooms available. If that was the case, the worst rooms are still excellent and I'd love to see the better ones: ours was spacious, had a decent view of surrounding towers, and was not at all noisy despite being fairly near the elevators. It's a Hilton so internet access and parking costs (a lot) extra but both were fine. Great location, very helpful and polite staff - no complaints whatsoever and at the discounted rate it was a bargain. Only downsides were that for such a big hotel the bar was a bit small and cramped (and expensive), and there was no fridge in the room.

Will definitely stay here again when in Houston.

We stayed here while attending a dance competition at The Westin Galleria. The room was large and the beds were very comfortable. The sink area is very large and includes the closet so you do not have to go out of the bath area for clothes and such. The room service was expensive but the servings were large. We did not have a great view but we were only in the room to sleep. The front desk staff was very friendly!

CONS: Valet Parking is expensive and the parking garage is a very long walk from the elevators.

The location of this Hilton was terrific, however the following occurred: I had two beds only on our last night, as Priceline could not guarantee bed arrangements ahead of time (the hotel did provide a roll-away that was too short for someone 6 feet tall); I was wrongly charged $25 for valet parking (fortunately refunded by the hotel); the oatmeal in the restaurant was likely made with water but still cost about $7; two hallways in the hotel were cold; refrigerators and microwaves were not standard in the rooms but had to be requested (hotel staff said the hotel only had 15 microwaves and couldn't understand why more weren't available); and a curtain in our first room was torn.
