The facilities were great and kept very clean (especially bathrooms and shower which can sometimes be a struggle at hostels). The neighborhood is central to downtown, Montrose, and the museum district.

Four of us shared a bunk room with private balcony overlooking the pool. The shared bathroom was clean and there was usually little to no wait time.

My only advice to travelers is that the guests at this hostel seem to skew older and more professional. While we were there we were really the only people under 20. A 50-ish foreign business man kept shusshing us in the common room and the hallway waiting for shared bathroom. We read the guest book and there were previous entries from serious grownup types who had been there for a global summit (you know G8 G7 etc). It's in a very nice neighborhood surrounded by foreign embassies so I assume that attracts professional business travelers.

The hostel is VERY quiet which is not necessarily a bad thing, but we felt very uncomfortable talking and laughing at 9:00 p.m. on a Saturday during a holiday weekend. It is THAT quiet.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a balcony

I stayed here and loved the vibe at the hostel, even though i went during a quiet season, i still enjoyed my time very much and met lovely people and the hostel workers really help you out when you need anything. The location is perfect, the Hostel itself is clean, big, spacious and has everything you need. Happy Camper!

Stayed there for 6 nights, the perfect place to chill out when you're on the road for months!
Met some nice folks there, it was great chatting by the pool in the evenings. Jessie was very friendly and approachable, she helped me organise my roadtrip to the countryside.

This hostel is a superb example of how great a hostel can be. Impeccably clean, great location for bars and restaurants and a beautiful place to sit back and chill. We originally were staying at another hostel in Houston but upon discovering how filthy it was, rang this place to see if they could squeeze us in. Not a problem! Not only is this place a great hostel (with a pool no less!) it's also a bargain price. Breakfast was basic but satisfactory and the wifi throughout was helpful. The room we stayed in was in the outbuilding which worried us a little at first. Our worries were completely unfounded as the entire place has great security in and out as well being a great spacious dorm (albeit, with one bathroom between 8 beds).

All in all. Great place, great staff.

A lovely house in Montrose & Midtown turned into dorm rooms, I didn't have a reservation when I first turned up but they sorted me out no problem. It was a great social hostel with a really nice pool area & a BBQ which we did use! Most nights were spent chatting with other hostellers outside with a few beers :) the staff were very friendly & helpful & I'd definitely recommend.

I have never seen a hostel like this one.
It is the best 4 days in a hostel I ever had. Helpfull and very nice staff 24/7. A pool in this area is a plus as well as a free breakfast and you can swim in anytime of the day. This one is by far the best you will find in this location of Houston. Everything is walking distance grocerie stores, museum district, fast food, restaurants and bars. Even if one bathroom is out of order it remains a good place too stay. I was in room 5 the AC did not work that well but we had 2 fans to relplace it and even with a full room we had good nights of sleep.
Finally this place is full of friendly people I made more friends in 4 days than in a year in own country everyone speaking to each other and ready to share its experience.
I recommend it to whoever wants to become an international traveler and discover Houston.

I stay in a lot of hostels. This one was by far one of the best. It looks like an old manor house and once inside it is clean and open. The rooms are small, so you don't have to share with many people and there is a big bathroom in each hallway. Our room had a little balcony that looked over the pool, and even in winter we sat out there in the sun. The staff are super helpful and breakfast is included. Loved it.
Only con, was that there was no lift, so carrying a 30kg bag up a flight of stairs was not fun.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a balcony :)
