“Romantic setting”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 17, 2013 via mobile

Brenners on the Bayou is the perfect romantic setting, everything else is fine but that is just it, everything is fine but nothing more. The staff are pleasant but not especially welcoming. The food is well cooked but the menu is not inspired. It seems as if the management are happy to rely on the setting alone to bring the customers there. Shame, as it could be awesome.

“Disappointed Valentine”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 15, 2013 via mobile

My husband and I looked forward to celebrating Valentines Day by dining at this restaurant. We have dined here several times in the past and enjoyed everything about it. Unfortunately, this visit fell way below our expectations.
When given the menu we saw that it was a limited, price fixed menu. That was the first disappointment. But we made our selections and also ordered the wine pairings. Our appetizers were good as well as our salads but the wine pairings arrived early for both courses instead of WITH the courses. The main courses arrived without the wine pairings and our dishes were cool by the time the wine arrived. My dish was grilled shrimp which was plated with the heads on over smashed potatoes with orange pieces mixed in them. The dish was very unappetizing and extremely salty. (There was no mention on the menu of heads on shrimp.)
My husband's steak was good but the sides were average. Dessert was the last straw. Two cake pops, which had been frozen and tasted like it too) with two dabs of ice-cream
and two pieces of solid heart shaped chocolate. This was not only disappointing but also surprising. It certainly was not in keeping with the delicious Grand Marnier souffles we have enjoyed there in the past.
Maybe Brenner's has a new chef or this location is under new management but we think they need to regroup before they offer another menu like Valentines 2013.

“Poor service”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 9, 2013

I was recommended this establishment from a good friend of mine, so with much anticipation!. I made reservations. For the sake of sound not sounding over negative. Let's just say the atmosphere is great, but the food and service was horrible to say the least. Long wait even with reservations, hostess was rude, steak and chicken over cooked, and waiter was missing in action throughout the meal. I would only recommend the bar for a great dining experience, do your self a favor and checkout other options.

“Disappointed”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 11, 2013

The atmosphere and setting of this restaurant are wonderful, but maybe I had my expectations too high. We had a reservation well in advance for a special occasion, but our table was in a back corner, with 1 of our 4 seats facing the wall and 1 facing the restrooms. Not what you hope for with such an expensive dinner celebration. The service was slow, no one made you feel welcomed or special, like many other upscale restaurants do. The waiter didn't seem happy, was not friendly and acted rushed. Had to ask for water refills and plates to be moved from the table, which again, you don't expect at a restaurant of this caliber. The steak, lobster and pork chops were excellent, as was the cheese plate and the quail appetizer. The augratin potatoes were hard (not cooked well). We were celebrating a birthday and no dessert was offered. Constant traffic passing our table to the restrooms. This is also a Landry's property so we expected more. Will not go back.

“New Years Eve Bliss”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 1, 2013

Our first visit to this Gem, as we typically stay in the moderate range. We treated ourselves and were delighted to say the least. We opted to not order from the special menu for the specail event and try a few things. The service was top notch from the very start with prompt, attentive attention to even the small details. Appetizers were the Quail and Crabcake. The wife and I were in heaven. Upon the arrival of our ribeye's we could not believe how tender and flavorfull they were. Each was cooked precisely to order with a precision we could only dream of. The accompaniements, mashed and augratin potatoes were fantastic and would be offended if ever referred to as simply "sides". Finished off with creme brullet and apple streussal of the finest quality. Worth Every penny!
Order wine by the bottle as it is a bit overpriced. but overall a complete positive.
