“Standard nice hotel a bit far”
Reviewed September 17, 2013

Nice, clean hotel with friendly staff. NOT in a touristy area but if you have a car it is fine. It is perfect if you are there for business as it is close to business- congress centers.

I thought the food was good.

Room Tip: I did not like having a room on the inside because they put some LED at night of all sorts of colors...

The hotel staff were incredible during checkin, just so pleasant and helpful I was really pleased. The cookies were, of course, there and delicious. The room had a great view and was really comfortable and feather free (an actual option as you book your reservation!) the bed was comfortable, and the room as a whole was clean and well cared for. The breakfast was off the charts (even had an omelette station). I had status so I can't speak to the pricing, but the choices were a lot and varied. The parking is $16 /day, but it's tough to find free parking near the mall. There are plenty of things to walk to and a to of restaurants either a short drive or short walk. What really got it done for me here was the staff, they were just aces; bent over backwards to help. Thanks all!!!

This CM feels somehwat dated - like time-travel to the 80ties...the lobby chairs are faded..they missed the whole Marriott corporate lobby upgrade campaign. That is good and bad. The bad thing is that the decor is dated and the furniture are worn. The good thing is that you can still get the old fashion breakfast buffet with omelette station. For frequent travelers: there is no VIP room and there is no free breakfast. They discontinued free breakfast this summer. Apparently there is no room upgrade either - I was sent to the disabled room next to the noisy ice mashine and elevator without prior warning as Platinum Elite..so your status doesnt buy you anything at this place. Rooms are as dated as the lobby...comes with the poor Courtyard bedding as any other CM. Only positive thing about the room is that they have the upgraded shampoo. TVs are smaller than normal. The pool is big enough to take a bath..not much more you can do in it..hot tub is luke warm...staff is soso...lots of minumum wage and the dressed up ones are friendly but somewhat "uncool"..must be a very strict and micromanaged place. Window AC is noisy as in most CMs...not as bad as in the CM Westchase. Parking and breakfast is basically another 30 bucks to the base price. So if you are looking for a boring overpriced place next to the galleria..this is the place,.

Room Tip: Go next door..may be you can get a free breakfast at the hilton garden inn...there is a springhill s...

Green Features: Didnt see anything sustainable ? wouldnt that start with the AC system ?? there is no way that these ACs are environmentally friendly...didnt see a sign for the towels..but they are lousy quality anyway..

Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your recent stay. I’m really disappointed to hear that you found us outdated, uncool, and overpriced. You are correct in your observation that we have not received the new renovation package yet. At just 6 years old, we are near the end of the renovation list. You will be happy to hear that we are currently getting our lobby furniture refurbished as I would agree, it is well used. I am pleased to hear that you enjoyed our breakfast buffet. We do get quite a lot of compliments on it and are ranked at the top of the brand in both our breakfast quality and service. You were correct in saying that as a Courtyard, we do not have a concierge lounge or executive lounge. We do our best to upgrade as many of our Marriott Rewards Members as possible when upgraded room types are available. I’m sorry to hear that you did not enjoy your room location and that we were unable to offer you a complimentary upgrade. One of our main goals is always to exceed our guest’s expectations, so to hear that we did not even meet your is extremely disappointing. We would love for you to stay with us again and give us another try.

This hotel is a bit hard to find as it is behind another hotel off Sage Rd but it is worth the effort. The staff is super friendly and helpful, especially Mehak Adamjee the Front Desk Manager and all the staff we encountered at the hotel. Rooms were clean and well kept, omelet chef is a very nice touch, breakfast buffet was well stocked and fresh. We will definately stay here again.

I grew up near Houston and do not like returning but it was a necessary trip. I have never had great customer service when shopping, eating out then to top off with the awful heat and humidity. Thank you Marriott employees for displaying such geniune hospitality. A recent flood had caused them to place fans in halls which were running continously. They immediately explained the situation then walked me to room to make certain I would be comfortable with sound. I could only hear them when exiting room. Manager placed a letter in room again apologize for any inconviences the situation had caused and to please let them know how they may accommodate you.

I had a large room and bathroom both very clean. Most importantly their bed linens were soft and luxurious. Bed was so comfortable. Closet was small and couch was a little worn.

Yes you have to pay $16 for garage parking which is unlimited in and out sevice but in Houston this is a plus. Hotel is down a alley between Sage and Rice rd. so be aware it may initially be difficult to locate. Close proximity to good shopping and restaurants.

Room Tip: Hotwl located down alley between Sage and Rice road. You can not see it from road.

Although we were to busy to go to the Galleria, we enjoyed our stay here. The hotel was at a convenient, nice uptown area, right across the street from the Galleria. There are lots of eating & shopping places within a short driving distance. It is about 6 miles from the museum district. We'd stay here again next time we are in Houston. Btw, the hotel will validate if you have a visitor who parks in the hotel parking structure

Ok, so it is a Courtyard. The rooms and facilities are what you expect for a Courtyard. So why 5 STARS? The people that work there are outstanding! All of the staff greets you with a smile, always say hello, ask how they can help, and go out of their way to make a 'standard' business hotel something special. Special thanks to our bartender Rachel - fun, friendly, and ALWAYS remembered names and drinks from prior night at the bar. Try the Texas Vodka, Rachel will Know when you ask!
The entire leadership team has done an incredible job training their staff to focus on their customers!
