“High Culture that is High Quality”
Reviewed January 17, 2014

At Miller Outdoor Theatre, the MOT, you can see the opera, ballet, symphony, plays, musicals, Shakespeare, concerts, ethnic performances, movies, fireworks, children's performances, and more free for approximately 7 months out of the year from about April to October. No other city has more free high culture than Houston. No one in the greater Houston area has a legitimate excuse to be unfamiliar with sophisticated culture. Beware of the heat and humidity during June, July, and August, as well as the crowds for the Independence Day celebration, but it is a relaxing and can be a romantic site with a special person that is affordable. A concession building is present or you can bring your own food. it is a wonderful treat in Houston.

“Variety, quality, free”
Reviewed December 29, 2013

What more could one ask for? A variety of enjoyable cultured events for free. Enjoy the symphony, Shakespeare festival, musicals, etc all whole relaxing on the hill with a bottle of wine. Just remember to bring a hat until the sun sets...this is Houston, after all!

“Can't beat good free entertainment!”
Reviewed November 27, 2013

Awesome, awesome, awesome place. We love to come here and bring blankets and a picnic to enjoy on the hill. You can drink alcohol as well, just no glass containers. I have seen some of the best shows here and it is completely free, even parking! It does get crowded at the popular events so come early! There is a concession stand open during performances serving snacks, ice cream, and beer. Kids love to roll down the hill and dogs are allowed too. Great place for families. I only wish they had more performances.

“A Fun Way to See the Arts in Houston”
Reviewed November 26, 2013

This is a great way to introduce the arts to your children. It;s free and they have a lot of musicals, plays, and operas throughout the year for families as well as for adults. There is quite a bit of covered seating. It is first come first served, so you if you want a seat, come early. You can also take a blanket and sit on the hill behind the seating. There is not a bad seat in the house! Feel free to bring your own snacks and drinks...especially if its during a hot summer day!
