The very first time I have been to the Miller Outdoor Theatre was in 1981. 32 years later, I came to see the famous band WAR and the place was just the same as before. Big crowd, behaving very well. Nice facilities; well kept grounds and just a pleasant experience. It was easy to get there, find your spot on the grass and easy to leave after the performance.
One downside was people smoking cigarettes and cigars. The smoke was bothering me and my kids. I wish security would pay more attention to this problem.

I have been here a number of times, and whether to frolic with friends on the hill, which catches a sumptuous breeze, or to watch the stars while listening to an enchanting score by the Houston Symphony, the Miller never disappoints!

Since this is a free concert it stands to reason that it would be well-attended. But beware, even arriving 1 hour early we were sitting on the grass in an area where we could not hear the music at all. We walked up closer and it was a lovely performance, but you can't stand for long in the way of other people. Also, the fireworks don't begin until the music is over, of course. They were very good, however we felt we had waited a LONG time for that.

This is a great venu, I love that you can bring your own food and sit on a picnic blanket and watch the symphony or a play or a ballet. Usually, the hill has some breeze so you don't perspire too much on humid warm days.

We loved the music and vocal artists. The Houston Symphony has got to be the best in the country and we really enjoyed Michael Krawjesky as the conductor who has a sense of humor and doesn't take himself too seriously.
