“Average hotel, small/basic rooms, needs a few improvements”
Reviewed February 11, 2013

I wouldn’t lead my fellow travelers astray, so here’s what you need to know about this place. I stayed here 5 nights, but will probably look for something closer to the downtown core my next time in Houston. My first impression was that this hotel had the vintage charm that really shows the Houston culture. The staff, servers, valets and management all seemed very friendly. Everyone was genuinely willing to help where they could. At checked-in, I realized my room was directly across from the elevators and they were able to move me to a quieter room. The rooms (around $130 a night) are very small and the bathrooms are even smaller. Housekeeping is “open” until about 3pm and the service was hit-or-miss. You get all the basic amenities needed for your typical business traveler, but the rooms are no-frills. The bed wasn’t all that comfortable, the rooms have thin walls, the gym was nice but needs some updated equipment and the $12 breakfast buffet didn’t seem to provide very much value. Order off the regular breakfast menu, the coffee is much better.

Room Tip: Effective 2/11/12, there is some construction going on outside the hotel.

Thank you for taking the time to express your thoughts about your recent stay with us. We want to be better than average in what we deliver and do appreciate your comments.
We are in the process of replacing mattresses as well as fitness center equipment and our restaurant's breakfast buffet is better today than yesterday...
We are continually seeking new ways to make our guests more comfortable and do appreciate your input. I would like to personally invite you back the next time your travel plans bring you to Houston.
Regards,
Greg

Fantastic hotel right downtown. ALL the staff were helpful (not always the case) and the hotel was very clean and well maintained.
The room was small, "cruise ship" small. So theres not a ton of room,
Aside from that, everything was perfect. Comfortable bed, closet, all clean. Bathroom was nice, hallways were too.
You can find a lot to do and eat by walking 5-15 minutes.
Great choice.

This was a great find in Houston. The hotel is very nice and a great value. Proximity to the GRB convention center was within walking distance and there are also good restaurants in the area. Staff was friendly and helpful as well, especially Peter who drove the free shuttle.

This hotel is in a great location in downtown Houston. Lots of bars and restaurants within walking distance. The hotel it's self was very clean and has a cool charm to it. Everything is just kind of small. The room was the smallest I have ever seen but that was fine for us (adults). I would caution against staying here with children since the rooms are so small. The bathroom was clean and nice. One thing I will say that is just info, not a knock on the hotel, downtown Houston is not your typical large city downtown it is dead on the weekends. We stayed on a Friday night and it was like a ghost town.

Loved this hotel!!! great location downtown with a great restaurant. Room service and Valet parking were not overpriced at all. Beautiful hotel! Only one complaint, (which really isn't a complaint) when we got into our hotel room it was freezing cold. We turned the heater on, and left for our event. We thought by the time we got back that our room would be warm. When we got back our room was still freezing. We called to the front desk, and they sent someone up to look at it. There was nothing they could do that night, so they offered to move us rooms. Because their hotel was full, they upgraded us to an apartment suite. Was very impressed with the overall customer service in the hotel, everyone was great and eager to please. Will definitely stay again.

Traveled to Houston on quick business trip for one night and following day. Arrived at Club Quarters at 9:45PM. Check-in was fast, easy, and courteous. A colleague from work who traveled with me wanted to eat dinner, after 4 hour trip. We asked the young lady at the desk for recommendations. The kitchen at the hotel's bar/restaurant was closing at 10 PM, so she recommended a pub one block away, with kitchen open late, and a wall full of taps with four page menu of brews from around the world. It was a good recommendation.

For whatever reason, I was upgraded to a suite, while my colleague was in a standard room. The suite is quite good sized full two bedroom apartment, with kitchen area, dining room table, living room area, and two good sized bedrooms each with its own bath. The hotel building is quite old, but everything inside is updated, and quite clean. I like the fact that you need to use your room key to go up floors in the elevator. The bedding was quite comfortable. Being in such a large unit, you feel like you are in a residence, as opposed to a hotel. On other hand, my colleague said his standard room was quite small (as other reviews mention), but clean and comfortable as well. The bathrooms are on the small side, but the water for the sink and shower were fine.

The lobby of the hotel is small, but nicely done. The lounge area where the hotel offers coffee and other beverages 24-7, as well as some snacks / breakfast bars, etc., is cozy.

My company normally books me at the Hyatt Downtown in Houston, but if I can always get a suite at Club Quarters, I would take that over the Hyatt. Plus, the rate my company paid for Club Quarters was less than the Hyatt (and they did not charge me anything extra over a standard room for the suite - - very nice).

Room Tip: If you want all the comforts of home, the full two bedroom unit is quite nice.

My stay at the Club Quarters in Houston was for only one night and only to sleep. The hotel was effeciently laid out, had a great coffee machine in the lobby, and the bed was comfortable. Check-in was effecient and the free internet was fast. I liked the closet in each hallway that had extra room supplied that you are able to use. I was able to get foam pillows and extra coffee from there. The self-service water cooler on the floor was appreciated also.
