“Great Food & Fajitas in Houston TX”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2013

This is a very cool place with great energy and food, The Fajitas are super-sized eating and highly recommended. This place can get crowded on the weekends, with standing room only space. Come during the week and avoid the crowds. There is valet parking but overall parking space is limited. Wine list was very limited so stick with beer or margaritas!

“Fab food but . . . Get there early the line is long.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 12, 2013

People have to wait in their cars to get a parking space because it's so crowded-- yes there is valet parking but it's Houston and we don't like valet parking--apparently--lol
The salsa is so warm and yummy-slow cooked so all the flavors meld perfectly. WE always share the Las Vegas plate with filet mignon. The tacos are huge the meat melt in your mouth tender!

“Pretty good food, decent service, but needs an upgrade and a good cleaning.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 10, 2013

The food here is generally better than your average tex mex place. That fact keeps them in business. Waiters are fairly good too . But a lot of what keeps El Tiempo going strong is their longstanding reputation. I find the prices to be high relative to the quality of the experience. The restaurant has a dirty feel and always a strong smell of the kitchen fryer. Still, it's a local tradition.

“A lovely restaurant in a lovely area.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 8, 2013

How do you differentiate good Mexican food in Houston? When it's good, it's good. Not only is the food good, it's also a nice place to have dinner or lunch. Attentive wait staff, fresh chips and salsa. Can't go wrong there.

“Best margaritas and Tex Mex in town”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 26, 2012

I've been to them all, this one wins in both categories. It will be a little pricier than some of the others, and if you are on a budget, there are alternatives in town that are more than acceptable. But El Tiempo has great filet mignon fajitas. The chicken and regular beef skirt steak versions are also top notch. Add to that the best margaritas in town. I don't like the sweet syrupy green margaritas served in most places. The El Tiempo margaritas are refreshing and clean; better get a pitcher, you'll want more than one. Finally, the atmosphere at the Washinton Ave. location is festive and fun. The patio is always a good choice for seating. You won't go wrong here.
