“Not family friendly!!”
Reviewed November 29, 2011

The food was delicious. Watching the cooks make the bread in the Tandoori oven was a unique experience. However, the pictures of naked Hindu gods plastered all over the walls was not a pleasing family experience. The owner was also made me extremely uncomfortable at the way he excessivly admired my blonde haired, blue eyed little 4 yr old!! I will not be going back!! I was disgusted to see him starting at her repeatedly during our dinner! I don't care how good the food was, we will be going somewhere else!

“Rice Village Indian Food - worth a trip”
Reviewed October 13, 2011

Friday night in Rice Village is busy so parking is at a premium (use the multi-story a couple of blocks away if you can't immediately find on-street parking).

Restaurant was busy but not packed. High ceilings added nothing to the atmosphere nor did the food left on the floor by an adjacent table from the prior family of diners.

With a couple of strikes against it, the service and food quality more than made amends.

Staff were helpful, attentive and quick to serve.

The vegetable samosas were about he size of a small baby's head (!) and perfectly cooked.

There is more than enough on the menu to engage Indian food affianados and novices alike as well as the vegetarian and omnivores. The BAINGAN BARTHA (roasted, pureed eggplant) was absolutely delightful along with the requisite naan bread.

If in Houston medical center/Rice area again, I would definitely make a point of stopping in for dinner.

“Some like it hot - and just because you can't pronounce the name of a dish doesn't mean you won't like it.”
Reviewed August 17, 2011

The food here is delicious, for those who enjoy nontraditional international cuisine fare. The hot and spicy chicken curry is a must-try. The restaurant offers foods with varying degrees of spiciness, from for those who prefer mild to those who like for their lips to be burning long after the food is gone. Pretty much everything is flavored with savory herbs and spices. Prices for dinner entrees are mid-level, starting at about $10 and up, and they offer a lunch buffet where you can sample a variety of their dishes for $10.95. Overall, an essential stop in Houston if you like Indian food.
