Description: For more than forty years, we are a casual, and "gemuetliches" German-Texan restaurant, that is all about Sausages, Wiener Schnitzel and great German Beer and Wine. During all this time, Rudi has enjoyed a loyal and regular following and makes each visit memorable and personal. The restaurant is for many customers "their home away from home". On the menu there is something for everyone! Our famous Wiener Schnitzels a delicate veal cutlet, breaded and pan-fried, or the selection of grilled Sausages Bratwurst, Knackwurst and Polish Sausage. The very popular Heritage Dinner plate is a sampling of Red Cabbage, Sauerkraut, Austrian Potatoes, Sausages, Roasted Chicken, Pork Loin, Wiener Schnitzel and Sauerbraten. At least once you have to try Rudi's Pork Shank (Eisbein or Schweinshax'n) Enough food to feed even the hungriest Texas Cowboy!

We have a group of friends that travel around the city's restaurants, and wanted to try someplace new..
All of a sudden we thought GERMAN. and we were surprised that there were not that many options in Houston..
The building is older and more established, and when you open the doors the live music is adding to the experience.

The food was of good quality and very tasty . Lots of protein..and the flavors robust..
we had several sampler platters for the appetizer and and the meal, so that everyone could sample everything.. The potato pancakes were great.. we ordered more.. The Sampler Platters were more than ample..
The waiter was just right.. attentive but not intrusive
We had a blast
(apple strudel was yummy)

We will go back.
Thanks for the fun time.

I took my daughter there as a first time visit to try it out. We were both pleased. There was live music and the food was very good especially the Hungarian Goulash. I would recommend it to anyone looking for good homey German area cuisine.

Rudi Lechner's is in a street mall and can easily be by-passed, if not specifically looking for it. Entry is into a cozy Gasthaus atmosphere with tables abutting each other, typical German floral décor, and a two-piece live band of an accordianand a support person for vocals, rythem, and the "Washboard". Menu is excellent German food, service was prompt and courteous, and the food was delivered hot and on time. The entertainment was very Central-European/German and well-done. The place was full, elbow to elbow, and tables were nestled where one would not expect a table to exist. A most pleasant German ding experience!

10 people from our neighborhood decided to try, for our usual Friday night date night. Excellent choice. Friendly waitstaff had great recommendations. Husband and I had the beer schnitzel, hungarian goulash, wine cheese soup, german potato soup, spaetzle, and red cabbage. Also had the carrot cake, and apple strudel. All for $34.95. Everything was good quality and very tasty. Plenty to take home for lunch, next day. The bread basket is a treat! Everyone had a great time and enjoyed their meals. Live German music was fun, but made it hard to have conversation. We will be back!

We went on adventure. Our server guided us through the food and explained the dishes. I'm by no means a pro on German food, but I am a picky eater. The food was great. There was a cheesy noodle appetizer that was comfort food heaven. The brisket was tender and tasty. It is not the same as Texas brisket. The zucchini bread is great. I couldn't resist it. Stick to the bread skip the pretzel appetizer.
