Looks like this place WAS something at once. A little - ok - a lot run down, and showing it's age. Still, it's home sweet home to the oil patch patronage who slave nearby, and swear by it. Call it a little nostalgia for the good ole 70's, but this place grows on you once you are seated by the real live waitresses who still use "Hon". Most, if not all is deep fried, but fried done right: proper spice, right on heat, and perfect crisp. And let's face it, even the most hard core Bruce Jenner's love a good fried food! Gumbo is a little weak, however - cool and almost bland, driving the rank down of an otherwise decent, joint. Service was great, reflecting adult supervision, meals served hot, fast and correct, and portion control, a thing not bothered with. Forget the grimy appearance - Ill be back the next time!

The hotel desk staff recommended this place, so I tried it out for lunch. It was underwhelming.

I opted for the jambalaya, which was, well, passable at best. It was allegedly a "seafood" jambalaya, and by "seafood" I guess they mean "shrimp." There was little heat, nor sauciness, to the entree, much of it accompanied by an underseasoned listless rice. Oh well, there was a lot of it, anyway. And, in this case, that's not necessarily a good thing.

Service was marginally attentive--suprising since there were very few people in the place when I was dining.

One other note, the main menu is, in my opinion, very pricey.

did not read the google review before visiting restaurant. we were overcharged on one entree; the waiter said the price was not accurate on the menu. we asked for the manager, and he said the same. we presented the menu to the manager, and only when i pointed out that it did NOT say prices subject to change did he back down. seems like a clip joint to me. check google reviews before you go!

We went to this restaurant because it was within walking distance of our hotel, Hyatt Place, and we had to cross our fingers that the food would be good. It most certainly was ! Everyone in our group if six ordered something different and we were all pleased with our selections. And our server was just terrific ! (Wish I could remember her name) We'd definitely go back to Jimmy G's if we were in Houston again.

If you're looking for a New Orleans style grilled oyster then head to Jimmy G's. Sit at the bar, have an cold beer, and enjoy watching them grill oysters and boil crawfish. The oysters are shucked right in front of you so you know they are fresh. Don't forget to ask for the garlic bread to help soak up all the wonderful oyster liquid.

The location is easier to get to now that road construction was completed on the service road in front of the restaurant.
