“Service very slow and food so-so”
Reviewed June 17, 2013

Service this time around was not good. It took at least 20 minutes to get our champagne ordered- (much less have it arrive) and we did not receive menus for at least 40 minutes. As for the food-my snapper was fabulous, but other members of my party did not fare as well. Though instructions were NO SALT, the veal chop was extremely salty and a new one had to be prepared.
The med rare steak was almost raw. All of the plates of hot food arrived at different times, which left some individuals with hot food going cold until everyone received their plate.
Three out of four of the desserts were great.
All in all, it was a disappointing showing. So far, two strikes this year. Don't know if I want to go back to see if they get the third.

“Amazing!”

This a wonderful place to celebrate someone's birthday. They have a sommelier who can guide you with the right wine for the evening. Everything on the menu is excellent.

“Old school charm and fine dining”
Reviewed May 22, 2013

One of the only truly elegant places to dine in Houston. Very fine professional service, excellent kitchen and wine selection and a truly beautiful dining room, bar and lounge.A great restaurant for special occasion, business meeting or romantic dinner. I have never been disappointed here.

“Food was excellent, service was not!”
Reviewed May 12, 2013

My husband and I were so looking forward to dinner last night with some dear friends. We arrived before our friends so we enjoyed a cocktail at the bar and the service was very good. It went downhill after this.

Once at the table, it took some time to get water and asked about drinks. Then quite a bit of time before we were offered menus. Our food arrived in good time and everyone thoroughly enjoyed each course. No one really paid attention to filling our wine glasses which is not the end of the world but you would expect that at Tonys. Once we finished our bottle we were never offered another one and the empty bottle sat on our table through the duration of our meal and even when they cleared our dinner plates along w a small plate of obviously squeezed limes which were used before we received our meal. The head waiter (or woman who took our order) had terrible timing throughout the evening, often times interrupting conversation.

Again, nothing was earth shattering but one would expect more for this caliber of restaurant. There are too many great restaurants in Houston with over the top service to return to Tonys any time in the near future.

“A real destination”
Reviewed April 14, 2013 via mobile

Looks like the Texas pavilion at a 1972 world's fair. Huge, crowds coming and going. Unbelievably friendly staff literally going out of their way to please you. Best to book the cozy bar area with a fireplace and piano. Excellent food with some surprisingly small potion control looking servings. Great Bronzino, pasta with truffles, soufflés, disappointing tuna tartar overdone by a steak-like prep. Fun to see so many multi-generational Texans having a good time.
