“Apparently a hot spot for first dates!”
Reviewed November 9, 2011

It was a Thursday night and we were surrounded by couples who were meeting for the first time and getting to know each other. So our meal was accompanied by unexpected entertainment which was facilitated by the bench seating along the wall and the intimate environment of the dining room. My husband and I found our meals to be a mix of fabulous and so-so. The house salads were very fresh and lightly dressed. My trout stuffed with crabmeat was the fabulous part that was accompanied by sautéed baby spring vegetables. Part of what made it fabulous was the bierre blanc sauce that the vegetables were sautéed in--very delicious! My husband had the shrimp grits with bacon and jalapenos and topped with a poached egg. While this dish sounded very interesting, the grits tasted like they had been pureed, resulting in a very disappointing texture, or more accurately, lack of texture, and the bacon was almost nonexistent. The shrimp, egg and jalapeno were quite tasty, but left us both longing for the texture and flavor of regular grits. When you want grits, you want grits, not cream.

“Best Chicken Fried Chicken Breast in Houston”
Reviewed August 27, 2011

The Dailey Review is a small restaurant just outside the Houston downtown area. It is very convenient for an early dinner prior to going to the Houston Theater District i.e. Alley Theatre, Hobby Center, Jones Hall and Wortham Theater Center also Stages, and the Hobby Center. The menu has a nice variety of items with dailey specials. We had one of the specials of the house the Chicken Fried Chicken Breast with mashed potatoes, corn and green beans. Thought it was very good although we ate too much. The staff was very friendly and saw to all our needs and wants. On a cool night it is very pleasant to set outside in their garden patio area. Parking is limited but they do have valet parking which is free. We do recommend the Dailey review and we have eaten here often.

“Crab cakes = crab balls”
Reviewed May 13, 2011

Our group visited for Mother's Day brunch. The service was good, my crab 'balls' were delicious, but they were NOT crab cakes. We also ordered the palm crab salad, pumpkin bread, apple crisp, caraf of mimosas and creme brulee. The manager and wait staff were very friendly and attentive. We selected outside seating....a mistake. The seating was fine, the patio area and landscaping were a negative. Obviously, landscaping is not a priority, i.e. dead shrubs and grass. Maybe with a little TLC (and water), plantings would live and be green.

“Great Patio Experience!”
Reviewed March 3, 2011

Summers in Houston may be hot/humid but springtime is wonderful for sitting out on a patio enjoying the sunshine! I went to Daily Review for lunch, not much parking but the valet is free. You have options to sit indoors, on the porch, or out in the garden area. The menu had a wide variety of options (salads, sandwiches, fish, chicken, pizza, pasta), something for everyone. I had the special of the day: Grilled Chicken breast on Ciabbatta w/Avocado. It was an extrememly large portion for $10 and was served w/fresh potato chips. With an appetizer it would be enough to split. The crowd ranged from casual to dressed up businessmen and everything in between. Lunch prices ranged between $8-$20.
