“Terrific intimate French Restaurant on Memoiral”
Reviewed January 30, 2013

My wife and I are regular customers at Bistro Provence on Memorial Drive near Kirkwood. It is our favorite French restaurant in Houston. Consistently super cuisine and great service and operated by owner Genivieve and her husband with a touch of "neighborhoodness" and class. The duck breast is wonderful as is the grilled cote de pork (pork chop). Great wine selection as well. No reservations and Weekends might result in a brief wait...well worth it. We last visited on Thursday, January 24 and did not have to wait at all. Go about 7 pm and enjoy a leisurely dinner in a true French restaurant.

“Great Ambiance-Delicious Food”
Reviewed November 17, 2012

Menu had plenty to choose from plus they have nightly specials. We had the Charcuterie plate, escargot, entrecote, and the roti poussin. Everything tasted great and authentic and that comes from my wife whom is French and I have spent lots of time in the country myself.

Very nice ambiance and is designed and decorated in an old world French style. A little warm inside near the kitchen with it's wood fired oven.

Service was very good. We were kindly welcomed and had a great server whom was prompt and accommodation any request.

We will return for sure.

“Quaint, Quiet and Out of the Way”
Reviewed May 29, 2012

This is one of our favorite. As some of the reviewers have said the food in not extraordinary but the atmosphere and location and price make up for it. It is a Bistro so you expect bistro food. It is definately worth the money.

“Far below average for the price range”
Reviewed May 2, 2012

There are some excellent restaurants in Houston where you can't walk out of without spending $100 on a meal for two. This is not one of them. We were really in the mood for French food -- we had not been to a french restaurant in over five years, and this was the last one we had been to. We were SO looking forward to this meal! Service was good, the quality of the food was not. I thought it was interesting that the menu did not appear to have changed an iota from the last time we were there -- half a decade ago! We were to excited when we sat down for dinner, but, sadly, our enthusiasm did not survive beyond the appetizer. Other than the escargot that we had as a shared appetizer, which was excellent, the meal was very dissapointing. We both had specials -- I had rabbit, which was waaaayyyy over-salted. My husband had fresh fish flown in that day from Europe. The fish was delicate and superbly fresh. The sauce was way to overbearing and rich for such a fish. Liked the atmosphere, appreciated the service, didn't like the food, won't be back.

“Definitely not our favorite”
Reviewed March 3, 2012

Unfortunately this little bistro does not live to its reputation. The restaurant itself is quite charming but the food is so-so and our server was very rude. The wild boar was tough, the duck barely cooked, the onion soup tasteless, the cheese plate looked like they had gather bits of cheeses from leftovers and the presentation of all the dishes was awful. We very politely mentioned our dissatisfaction to the server who simply took the plates away without even a shadow of an apology. The bill was outrageously expensive. That was our first experience at Bistro Provence and definitively our last.

They should take some lessons from Bistro Le Cep where the food is exceptionnally good, the service awsome and the presentation of the food a pure delight. We should have opted for our first idea and gone to Bistro Le Cep instead of that awful Bistro Provence !
