Very nice place, with amazing food and a good wine selection. The "live" music left a little to be desired...but lots of others seemed to enjoy it... We will eat there again !

Get the Caesar salad, great bar, old history as this restaurant was in the inner city warehouses and factories for memorial business owners.

We moved to Houston in 1985 but never tried Cavatore's until this past week when we took advantage of a coupon promotion. And boy are we glad we did. The service was great as was the food. Chad, our waiter, was very attentive and informative. Bread was delivered to our table almost as soon as we sat down, and our drink order quickly followed. We elected to order the escargot with marinara sauce while we decided on our entrees. The sauce was thick and very rich with just a little kick, and the 10 snails were tender and tasty. Chad explained that the sauce was not the standard marinara sauce, but espeically made for the dish. We finally decided to order two Italian classic dishes for our entrees...lasagna and chicken parmigiana. The lasagna was well-prepared with tender noodles, plentiful cheese and a nice meat sauce. The chicken was moist and tender with a generous side order of penne pasta. The servings were more than we could eat at one sitting so we asked Chad if we could get them to go with some more of the sauce we had on the escargot. He said he would ask the chef and shortly returned with a container of that awesome sauce made by the chef as a special order just for us. The building is an 100-year-old barn moved to Houston from Bastrop, Texas to house the restaurant, and the decor includes memorabilia from Italy...a little clunky but unique. Topping the night off was the live music provided by the piano player. All in all a very pleasant evening.

Great interior, sweet and helpful staff. Food was mediocre and unfortunately not piping hot either?
Pity, the reviews were good so perhaps it was just an off day?

Restaurants in Houston come and go with amazing speed. But Cavatore's has been around for a long time. I think it's because they continue to serve up consistently good food. We used to live in the area but moved away recently. I was craving the caesar salad so my husband and I drove back to the neighborhood. We were greeted by a new face. I think her name was Sharon. She was gracious and friendly. There was piano music that night which made for nice atmosphere. Not too loud but nice to listen to. What I like about this place is that the food is reasonably priced and portions are pretty large. I started with the table side caesar salad. Love watching them prepare it and you also get to choose which ingredients to put in it-like anchovies and garlic. I then had the Italian sausage with pasta. The flavors blend well together. It was really good. My husband had the steak with brandy sauce. He was equally pleased with his meal. We skipped dessert but ordered coffee. When they brought out our coffee it was accompanied by a complimentary tasting of gelato. Turns out the restaurant was trying out a new concept. We thought the gelato was a nice touch. All in all, great time.
