“Thanksgiving Nightmare”
Reviewed March 10, 2008

We went to Smith & Wollensky for thanksgiving and we all sat down. We were 14 people all together. They had a special thanksgiving menu. So we ordered our food it took them one hour to bring the appitizers. During that period the waiter dropped all of the stake knives down my sister's back! She was luckily safe but the waiter went on like it never happened. Then half of the appitizers we ordered never came to the table! After the appitizers got there we ate the appitizers they tasted okay but not what i was expecting from this restaraunt after they brought the appitizers we waited 1.5 hours for the entre to come. Most of the entres were good but my entre was cooked badly and had a lot of fat so it was inedable i asked them to give me another one of it and they brought it in half an hour. Then we ordered desert we got a normal sized piece of cake, a very large piece of cake, and 2 vanilla ice creams even though we ordered them chocolate. We asked for them to bring one of them back in chocolate because the other person ate the vanilla ice cream anyway. Then they gave us a ramakin of ice cream to the person who ordered it. When the bill came they charged us for the appitizers that never came, they double charged us for my steak and charged full price for the ramakin of ice cream not to menshun the stuff they carged us for that we did not order. So that is our thanksgiving nightmare with a 3.5 hour long dinner.

“Good Food but atmosphere was lacking”
Reviewed September 15, 2007

Last night my husband and I went to Smith & Wollensky to celebrate our 14th wedding annviersary. Since I have eaten at the Las Vegas location, and was very impressed, we were excited about the evening. However, we were a bit disappointed after it was over. The food was wonderful and the service was good (except for I had to ask for an ice bucket to keep our bottle of white wine chilled). The problem with the evening was we were put in the upstairs dining room which overlooks Westheimer St. The room was not very romantic for the sun was shining in. Then the waiters and waitresses proceeded to get the dining room ready for other diners by moving tables and chairs (very loudly -- they never picked them up but she scraped them on the hardwood floor). The Matire' D came in and shouted at his staff and then they unloaded silverware into the buffet and that made all kinds of noise. The mood of the evening was ruined! When you pay over $150 for dinner you expect to be treated to a better experience!
