“Nice place, getting some updating”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 6, 2013

This place used to be a wonderful place. On our last visit there we had a large group, and they were very accomodating, but we were stuck in a small cramped room. That dampened our experience. I would stay away from the "redfish tacos." They tasted more like catfish, than red fish, or the fisth was old. Margaritas are good, and the queso too. It should be interesting to see after the renovations and now that the new El Tiempo is opening up next door.

“Best food, but the facility leaves a lot to be desired.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 3, 2013

Ninfa's on Navigation is OLD OLD OLD, so be prepared to watch your footing but when you eat the food, you will be glad you came. Very friendly staff, and the food is GOOD! I love the fried pork with the white cheese where you make up soft tacos with guacamole, sour cream, and salsa. A WINNER DINNER!! Their chips are great too.

“Love the Tradition..”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 30, 2013

Been coming here a long time! This place has really grown over the years but has kept alot of it original ambiance. The food is excellent no matter what you order. It is slightly upscaled Tex Mex but that is my fave more so than real Mex food. The chips and salsa have to be in the top 3 in the Houston area and are addictive. Plan to take part of your meal home. I usually order fish tacos or cheese enchiladas and both are great! They are known for their wonderful fajitas as well. The drinks have stepped down a notch in my book in that they are now more watered down with more ice than in the past. They also have many hotels from downtown driving folks over via shuttle to eat which can cause some crowding. My other problem the past few visits was a feeling of being "rushed." The waiter and staff may not have intended this feeling, but it is something I have experienced recently. Overall, if you are coming near Houston and the barrio area, please check this place out! It is one of the best we have here in Houston and Mama Ninfa was a great lady! Oh, one more thing, in the past the Flan here was the best in Houston. Homemade. In fact, in the past, all of their desserts were 5 stars. Since watching my sugar I have not ordered them in the past few years so I can not comment as to the here and now on their desserts. BUT this past time my daughter ordered the Sopapilla Jamaica and I must say they were homemade and excellent as always!

“Food is good, but forget it if you're in a wheelchair”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 26, 2013

Food is good as always. We stopped going to Ninfa's about a year ago when my partner had to start using a wheelchair. Anyone who has ever gone to Ninfa's knows how tiny the restrooms are. We hear they had a new accessible restroom...well the do, but..... There is not a wheelchair cut from the parking lot to reach the ramp at the front door. You have to exit the parking lot on the side street and drive down the right lane of Navigation to get to the front door. The new restroom is great....but.....they have to move 4 tables and chair so that the handicap person can get to the door...no aisle. I'm sure all those people eating enjoyed having to get up and move twice for us to use the restroom.....really embarrassing.
We won't be back and will advise the many other handicapped folks we know to stay away...

“Still worth the trip”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 21, 2013

Take the time to go downtown and visit this iconic restaurant. It is still producing flavorful and interesting Mexican food, with a menu not like every other Mexican restaurant in town. Great Margaritas, too.
