“What's the hype about?”
Reviewed May 7, 2013

I was exciting to go try Mo Mong upon reading the very good reviews. Expecting a hip/trendy place with great Vietnamese cuisine, my first disappointment was the dark and dingy atmosphere -- granted, it was a Monday evening, but the place truly seemed old and past its heydey. More importantly, however, it was the food that disappointed us most, especially because we'd really hoped to finally get some good, authentic Vietnamese food (with which we're very famliar, having traveled to Vietnam several times). Not so! Most of the dishes we tried (there were 5) were average, at best, although I will say the PHO was very good, as close to authentic as it gets. A disappointing experience overall.

“Fun Wednesday Night”
Reviewed April 16, 2013

They have delicious $3 frozen cosmos on Wednesday nights, and it draws in a big crowd. I love DJ Joe Ross, but it is a little loud in there if you are seated close to the front of the restaurant. We had a new waiter this time in the back upstairs. He was great. We liked him lot. I have been having the vietnamese fajitas, and while not really authentic vietnamese, they have great flavor, especially with the fish sauce. There are always left overs to take home. We tried the shrimp avocado spring rolls this time and enjoyed the combination of flavors.

I love those Chicken Avocado Spring Rolls with wasabi sauce. Will come back again!! : I like Mo Mong just fine.If people are looking for a place to drink one or two cocktails, it's a good place. If they look for good, authentic vietnamese food instead, other places are so much better.

“Best Low Key Asian Cuisine!”
Reviewed November 20, 2012

Mo Mong is one of my favorite places for Asian cuisine in Houston. It is in a hip area of town (Montrose), and has a modern artsy decor. This would lead one to believe the food would be expensive; however, it is not. The food is reasonably price, and you get lot of food for your hard earned dollars. In addition, they have a variety of Asian dishes including Thai, Chinese, and Vietnamese favorites. On Wednesdays they have a great cocktail happy hour. The only problem is parking. They have to compete with the Tex-Mex place next door. They have valet, but it can be a chore. Give them a try.

“Wonderful trendy place”
Reviewed September 12, 2012 via mobile

Very cheap happy hour drinks. Lots of people watching. Delicious food. Good portion size. And was fairly inexpensive as Vietnamese places go. Def a place to check out.

Just a word of warning: parking can be difficult during busy time so get there before 7 if you don't want to fight that.
